I'm so sorry for all of your losses. I don't know what I'll do when the time comes for my basset to go. She's getting up there and has been getting sicker and sicker. I get teary just thinking about it. Her and my boston are my babies (that listen to what I say and don't talk back. Ok, well my boston *does* give me attitude. Hehe.)

Big hugs to you all.

hockeyson, I am so very sorry. My heart is so sad with yours right now. It is all so fresh. Everytime I close my eyes, I see her. I am always catching my mind wandering to her.

I thank everyone so much for their encouraging words of love, compassion, and understanding for us and our losses. It means more than you can know.

On an upbeat note, my hubby felt so sad for me and my oldest son that he made a trip to the local animal care center and came home with two new members to our family. We now have two beautiful new puppies that are such a handful. We will now be able to give back to our beloved Jesse by passing on the love she gave to us to these two new pups. One puppy, Tyson is a 4 mo. old lab/shepherd/chow mix who is sweet as a button. Our second, Stella is a 9-12 mo. old lab/shepherd/chow mix (Tyson will be much bigger than her) who is so very loving.

They are both as crazy as can be and just love to play all day long. No one could ever replace Jesse but we are finding that we can go on. These little critters are making it easier to lift our heads out of the tears and putting smiles back on our faces.

You can see pictures of Jesse, Tyson, and Stella at the following link.

My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss. Some people never understand that our pets are just as much a family memeber as our children. It's perferctly okay to cry. I can tell just by your post how much you really loved your best friend. I have a miniture tea cup chiuahaha (s/p ?) and i love him very much, so i completely understand what you are feeling. I will pray that god comforts you now and always.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
