Not Losing. . . except my mind.

Recommended Posts

ai was banded on Nov 10, 2008 and have only lost 8 lbs since surgery. I saw my Dr this am and he scheduled me for my first fill March 19. I too feel like I have no restriction. Dr tells me I have to move & exercise more!!

Hey fellow Bandsters,

I'm in the same spot with a lot of you...going for my second fill tomorrow because after my first one in January, I lost a bit but not much and I feel very little restriction.

I know I fell off the exercise wagon in January, and February is shaping up to be much better in that regard. I haven't been eating what I should, and I'm getting better there too. Not as bad as I used to be, but not as good as I should be.

I'm praying my second fill gives me a good level of restriction so I can break some of my bad food habits and keep moving forward. I am exercising more and soon will be eating less.

I am a big fan of The Biggest Loser and they do talk about our bodies needing to adjust - perhaps this is what some of us are going through? Our bodies are so used to hanging on to EVERYTHING we eat that they have become really efficient at it - and it may take a while for them to realize we're really not 'starving' them and they can let go of the weight. Of course take this advice with a grain (or a pound) of salt, because I haven't figured it out either, but I'm still trying LOL

I have had NSV's - my clothes are fitting better and my blood sugar numbers are much better. Hopefully I'll be off the meds soon and can say I am a former type II diabetic.

Maybe setting mini-goals that have nothing to do with pounds can help - I am challenging myself to do my normal 30-minute walk in less time for the same distance - meaning I have to move my butt faster. Here's hoping it works! :tongue2:

I'm losing some of my frustration with something the Dr told me yesterday when I got a fill. He said that the reason he doesn't fill more often is that your new stomach needs to adjust to where the band is. His particular minimum refill date is 6 weeks, but some Drs go as long as 3 months. If you do the fills too quickly the band will slip.

Anyway I received another 2.5 cc., and away went the hunger. Now I need to get back to 3 meals & 2 Snacks with the correct portions.

Happy losing to all.

Hi 2-Lose-Fluf

Looks to me like we are doing great. I am at 5.7 cc's

No longer fight the hungers very often. Still try my very best to do what the Doctors ask of us. I still keep my food journals and watch the Protein count. Works for me. Keep up the good work.

Hi Old Goat- You sure are an encouragement to me. Since I Got my second fill of 2.5 cc I'm back to eating the correct amount of food and losing good again. I gained a total of six pounds right before the fill. And was getting so discouraged. Thanks again for all the posts. 2-lose-fluff

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
