Hey BigGerr and PitPat are you still posting on this site? How are you doing?:smile2:

Hello! I have been looking for you. I am doing good! Finally feel better. All the swelling has not gone yet. But it is a lot better than it was. I've twisted my knee and can't walk as much as I would like. How are you doing? :blushing:

Hi, I missed your posts. I am finally doing better. It was a rough 2 wks but yesterday I was able to downgrade the pain to sore and today is even better. I go to get my staples out in a couple days and I'm sure that will help too. Did you have a hernia repair? I think that's where my pain mostly came from, and I'm a major wimp to boot.I haven't started exercising yet but hope to do a bit today. Sorry to hear about your knee. I have been so afraid of falling, I thought I'd never be able to get back up. My appetite is sure coming back and yesterday I started on some solids (roast chicken, carrots and potatoes) I had a much smaller amt. and chewed really well and didn't have any trouble. I'm down 23 from the start of pre-op but will have a hard time from now to fill time, 4 more weeks yikes. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Keep me posted. Take care, Lynne

hey now. have not been on in awhile hope u all r good. hi to all the new people since September. i hit the big 100 lbs in September and have not moved. must say i have not been trying too hard. why you ask. because i am an ass. wasted months on camping relaxing golfing playing with my kids. instead of sitting in my chair i had fun.

i am stuck. i am discouraged. But i am moving and that's something i couldn't say before lapband.

too all those people that said lapband is a tool not a cure, ok you were right. But i am trying..............

Hi All. Am from Brandon and new to the site. Very excited to be getting my Lap Band done in Mexico on November 17th. Am currently on my pre-op liquid diet...not as bad as I thought. Would appreciate any advice or tips from all you seasoned bandsters out there!! 6 more sleeps!!! LOL

Hi there.

Welcome to the best thing you could do for your body. After your lapband, you'll enjoy cutting down on any medications you were taken or eliminating them in about a month or two. If you had reflux, you will no longer as they will fix the hiatus hernia you might have had while they band you.

The pain is nothing. If anything, the worst part was the post op shoulder pain which means the gas that they put in you to inflate your stomach so they can view as they work is working itself out.

Tips?

-follow their instructions to the letter. Be slow about going from liquids to purees to mushees to solids. Don't rush it at all.

-buy powdered Protein to use to augment your Protein needs

-when you do get to solids, eat your protein source first

-you'll probably know when you are full. If you don't one hint is, if you sigh after consuming your meal, chances are you're full

-buy chewable Vitamins or liquid vitamins, chewable fibre tablets or take stool softeners. Prunes and prune juice may be your best friends

-never drink while eating. Space that about 20-30 min before and about 1-2 hrs after eating

-look on line for wonderful lap band recipes - a slow cooker is a real help because you end up with moist meals

That's what comes to mind first. Best of luck. Keep us posted.

Hello everyone, its been ages since I've checked in here. I've had a slow summer no move up or down in weight.....I guess that can be a good thing ...depends how you look at it eh. I had a rotten cold about 6 weeks ago and with all the coughing I was throwing up everything I tried to eat or drink as a result I irritated my stoma and had to have a small defill to ease things up. I feel much better now and hoping to get on the losing track again. Happy Holidays to everyone and here's hoping we all manage well into 2011.

Hi Everyone,

I just had my surgery at Maples on Wednesday evening (Jan 5th). Still tender and sore, will take the bandages off tomorrow to see what the staples look like. Hope to see some people coming back here for more discussion, I'd like to see how some of you are doing who had the surgery a long time ago.

Hi everyone, I finally went through my dresser and closets and packed up all the "too big" clothes. I'm sure you all can relate how good that feels! Three garbage bags full going to charity as well as another that went into the garbage. I was amazed how much stuff I was hanging on to.....for what?? Hopefully 6 months from now I'll be doing this all over again as I continue to get closer to my goal :D . It is nice to be able to 'fit' into clothes as opposed to just being glad you have something that covers. Hope you all are continuing to do well.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
