Hello everyone, I had surgery on 11/24 and this is my first time on the site. Please include my stats on the spreadsheet:

Surgery date 11/24

Highest Weight 273

Preop diet starting weight 265

Surgery weight (Your weight the day of surgery) 254

Current weight 245

Goal weight 150

I am moving in slow motion and have had a few difficulties with my fills. I think I'm back on track now and headed in for another fill this week. If anyone has words of wisdom, what's working for you, etc. I would really appreciate it. I have virtually no support and am in need of help and encouragement!

We were banded on the same day & I'm down 33.5.

Can I ask what you're doing? Do you weigh out every portion? I only lost .5 last week. I've been walking using my walk aerobics tapes 6 days a week. doing between 3-4 miles a day. This hasn't helped my loss one bit.

I'm going in for my second fill 3/4.

Our 25th wedding anniversary is 3/23. I'd hoped to be down 50 by then but don't think I'll make it at this rate....

Have faith! I have only lost 5 lbs this last month. I seemed really tight for the first couple of months, sometimes Water would not go down. I have not weighed out my portions(slapping wrist) but I have not been able to eat that much. Some days are worse than others for whatever reason. My weightloss really slowed when I started exercising too. Now lately I have been able to consume way too much. Time for my second fill...I hope this does the trick. I am down to 215.8. Officially 50lbs lost. But this weight is what I was for years...so I am expecting a battle to get past here. I am constantly surprised that I have been able to lose weight consistently without feeling deprived. I bet you will see a difference with your fill. :)

Hi Everyone!

Its been a while since I've posted! My weight loss is slow, but its finally coming off...I've had two fills so far, this last fill (Feb. 8th) has helped me loose 7lbs over the last few weeks...all of January through most of February my weight flucutated by two or three pounds...I would gain it, then loose it, then gain it again! So this last fill has really helped...I go again in a couple of weeks, not sure about another fill though...we'll see what the nurse says!

My current weight is 230.5.

Your all doing so great!!!!! Congrats on all of your weight losses!

Updated to here. I am checkin' in at a whoppin' 201.4 today as well! I am so close to onederland, I can taste it! I am on a three day fast so, perhaps, I will slide in under 200 in a day or two.

I see the doc tomorrow. I have not been this low in weight in a long long time and am so excited!

Congrats to all on how well everyone is doing! I am so proud of us all! Keep up the good work!

Wow everyone on this site is so awesome and inspiring!! I was banded Nov 17th 2008 I have lost a total of 50lbs . I feel so much better already. Although it is going slow as Dr Geiss likes it I see some of your weightloss numbers and what am I doing wrong..I have not yet had a fill as they said if I am maintaining a weightloss then I do not need a fill....

Thanks,

Bobbi:thumbup:

Bobbi, your doing AWESOME!!! 50lbs lost since Nov. 17, 2008 with NO FILL??? I think that's pretty incredible and definitely not slow...I had my surgery with Dr. Geiss on Nov. 20th and I'm down 29.5lbs...I wish it was 50lbs!!! I'll get there, in time...I've already had two fills, but my first fill really didn't do anything for me...I would loose and gain the same 2-3lbs from January through most of February, it was very frustrating...but after I got my second fill in February, I'm now down another 7lbs, so I'm very excited! My next appointment at Geiss's office is coming up in another week..so we'll see what they say!

I just wanted to say that I think your doing FANTASTIC and must be so proud of yourself! Keep up the great work:thumbup:

Updating my stats.....

I'm at 215, so down 46 pounds. I just had my 3rd fill....exercise going well, etc. I just saw my surgeon and asked if I was doing ok. He said I've lost 30% of my body weight, and he typically likes to see about 25% by this point, so I'm doing well! Yay!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
