Recommended Posts

I had clear acrylics on. They need to be clear so they can see your nailbeds during surgery to check for oxygen and such.

Least that's what I was told.

phew - thanks guys. I thought it would be okay as they are clear...I had them when I had my gall bladder removed - but my mom asked me tonite and got me all worried!

I kept mine on for surgery, but I got a French manicure before. No problems at all.

I think it depends on the hospital. I am not sure if this is typical but with all my surgeries, about a week before surgery I got a pre-admission call from the hospital. The nurse goes over everything from what to wear, what not to wear, what medications I take and whether I should take them the day of, how to deal with TOM if applicable, when to arrive where to go and details on checking out. I was told that it was not even necessary to remove nail polish. But from what I have read here many times, these rules vary greatly.

It really depends most on the hospital . . . but many will let you keep them. Not to mention if you show up with them on, they sure aren't going to come off very easily.

Just give them a call and find out. That would be your safest bet.

They can check your oxygenation on your toe nails. My acrylics were bright red the day of surgery.

I was told I would have to take mine off on the phone. I didn't. I wear clear polish. No one said anything.

I had mine on the day of surgery and they were painted dark Purple. I had my toes done to match at the salon the day before too... I knew I wouldn't be able to get back in to get it done for a while.

No one at the hospital said anything to me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
