Jes, Yes I am. It's been pretty hard but keeping it steady lost a few extra dont know how but I did.

I plan to go to Kaiser tomorrow to do the lab stuff, log in weight and call Liz for an appointment with her.

gotcha! I'll email my personal dr. now and see what she says...she's kinda weird but thats okay LOL

Riley - mmmmmmm what kind!!!

LaChica - out of curiousity, how did you get your weight loss pre-surgery amount before orientation?

I just Guestimated.. from my understanding I know they usually tell you to lose at least 10% of your current weight, which would roughly be 20lbs for me? but right now I just got my monthly friend in.. and my weight fluxuates from 196-200 so yeah.. Guestimation.. how much do you think I really need to lose b4 surgery?

Hey there, how's everyone?

So today is likethe 1st day I feel like I can breath, work has been crazy. Sould be smooth for the next month or so.

Reggie, girl thanks for the invite i can get to meet you. I don't mind bringing something or even chipping in so let me know.

You are welcome Jes, you can bring anything you'd like but you don't have to. I'm glad we are going to get together.

ok I'm happy now...got the skinny latte.

Yea Maria, so yes there will be 3 of us, how exciting.

Oh Chica you sound like you are my size, I had to loose 19lbs, I'm at 23 right now. You know they take your orientation weight as the starting point...so don't start dieting yet.

ok I'm happy now...got the skinny latte.

Arent they the BEST?????? LOL!!

LaChica - It all depends on the surgeon, as my loss was more then 10% (32 lbs) while some had to loose alot less. One person Heather, I believe needs to loose 80?

Sound advice, Jes. And Chica, CONGRATS on the quitting smoking!!! That alone shows your committment to a new and healthier life. I smoked for 15 years until June 15, 2006, so I know all too well!!! I don't even know you and already I'm super-proud of you!!!

Richmond orientation is held on Wednesdays, so you probably have an overview class locally on that Friday . . . . I think that's a new requirement now, Tamra can fill you in on it . . . but no worries, you are ON YOUR WEIGH! (get it? Way? Weigh? LOL) Don't lose weight before orientation!

I want to say that is your info class on Friday, because I swear that's the date I had until I looked around and found a sooner one....

I had to lose 30 per Dr. Baggs, but I lost 43 . . .my PCP said he wanted me to lose 15% of my body weight before surgery, so that was the goal I set for myself (42.75 lbs., as I started at 285) The more you lose the easier surgery is, I had a super-easy experience & recovery. But the only thing that we know for SURE is that we are all different!!! And the docs know that . . so they say to count on requiring a 10% loss, it may be a little more and it may be a little less. Apparently one of the reasons that Heather has to lose so much is because she has not had children yet(!)? Only the surgeon knows for sure . . . .

Welcome Temp Tubby and LaChica

Stick on this site this is a great support group here!!

I had orientation on December 12, 2008 and surgery on April 13, 2009. I had to lose 12 pounds which I lost in a little over a month but I put my surgery out cause I went to AFrica for almost a month. My surgeon and Liz strongly encouraged me to go own my trip but told me not to gain weight. or my surgery would get cancelled. I mostly stayed on the diet but had to eat rice just case that was what they served mostly in AFrica where I was. But I lost about 10 pounds over there so I was down 25 by the time I had surgery. I also had to walk everywhere in Africa so that helped me lose weight fast over there!! :-) Good timing.

Best decision I have made. I have lost 44 pounds I think need to check my ticker again!! I changed it this morning!! LOL.

LaChica: LOL about your dead weight I did that too!! Smoking good thing you quit cause no surgery until you quite and they do a nicotine test before surgery. No caffiene or carbonation although I drank diet coke until the day before surgery but nothing since!! Also how do you know your goal weight already. They usually tell you that at your surgeons appointment? A word to the wise DON"T lose weight before orientation that is your starting weight!! Wait until the 14th to start. Stick with this group you'll do fine we can walk you through this!!

I recommend Dr. Baggs!! Just my preference

OKAY GUESS WHAT!!

My ex called saying he wanted to meet for Pizza at Skipolini's a pretty popular pizza joint. So me and my bestfriend met him there with my daughter.

While they feasted on pizza, salads, and beer, I drank water with lemon, didn't pull anything off the pizza (I wanted some pepporoni sooo bad), and I waited. Now I am home cooking my steak and broccoli  defeated!!!!

Tamra I am so proud of you! You are totally excercising your resistence muscle :-) Go girl!

I wish I was, I excercied my giving-in muscle all day, and it got easier and easier! It started with the pickled okra (swear), then the girl scout cookies, then 2 hersheys miniatures, then after work 2 slices of bread (apparently I CAN eat bread, at least right before a fill!) AND a slice of pizza, and a bunch of swiss and parmesan, not to mention the microbrew! Just one of these. . . . all in all, 1800 calories and 125 net carbs (I limit myself to 40 net carbs a day)!!! Oh my! Totally last-supper syndrome, I get my fill tomorrow and I think I may be tight then like Pam and Tina and not be able to pig out, so I did it all today! Trouble is, now I am going to be REALLY HUNGRY and jonesing for carbs all day tomorrow, my fill is not until 4:30 so i will be on clear liquids only from 10 am tomorrow until 4:30 on Saturday! And starving because I ate all of these carbs today! This one's gonna hurt ladies. . . .
