Ok so, today was my surgeon appt :)

All went spectacular, got there got weighed :cursing: then went in to meet Dr Baggs. Very nice man. He asked which procedure i wanted, and told me it was the best option.

He said with my bmi that I should get a very good weight loss with it, and maintain. He said with the RNY the chances of malnutrition are very high, and it's not a safe option when I know I want another baby.

So LapBand Im stickin to, I asked about the % of success charts you can find, and he said 1st off you have to look where you find them, most are trying to get the higher paid surgery, 2nd the lap band is newer. There are a lot of bands out currently, so they can't say what the loss is in 5, 10 and so on years, but it is made to stay in us for a loooong time and be adjustable for life. (unlike bypass)

So now, I get to get my case manager appt on monday, and i told him id like to have the surgery sooner then later because i have a trip in march.. he said it is achievable. So we will see, but kaiser richmond has 1 Case Manager for ALL OF US! So talk about a busy schedule!!!

So i also got all my labs ordered gotta go do those asap, then the pre op class, then he said OR..:tongue2: wow, scary! But exciting, but scary lol.

I am excited that we are all here for each other also. Makes me not feel soooo alone:) All i recommend is after orientation start the diet, try and loose 10% as fast as possible, that will push you thru the program!:tongue2:

I know some are not having to meet with the case manager and that makes since if there is only one in the office. I did hear there were two but I think one has been out for awhile now.

I am still waiting to hear something back from Kaiser. So far I have been told they are also down an office worker and that she is the scheduler. So therefore nothing and now one has been scheduled since she has been out.

I was told we all get random appointments by computer assignement than we can call in once a week to try and change it to a more convient time. I was told the appointments could be more than a month out as they are backlogged right now and short staffed.

I believe the random assignments also mean random doctor assignments and I am anxious to see who I am assigned to!!

Hey Reggie let me know how your orientation goes and don't be late. They sent people home last time for being 5 minutes late. They are serious.

I have lost some weight even with my half hearted christmas break diet..........today everyone went home and I am getting serious. Just shocked that I still lost just by limiting carbs and haven't totally cut them out yet!!

Would love to get this moving...............

Reggie, I live in Woodland and I left at about 5am!! I drove through the Starbucks to get coffee so I'd stay awake on the way there and I was about 1/2 an hour early but it was worth it. If I were you I'd leave at 5am and play it safe. That's one appt that you DON'T want to be late for or they'll make you schedule a new orientation...that would SUCK! :tongue2:

I'm so excited to get the last 13 lbs off and be at my surgery goal so I can get going with this! I really hope to be there by 1/31...that's my goal.

Nicole, I'm so glad it went well and that Dr. Baggs was nice and that he confirmed that Lapband is the best for you, just like you thought. That's great that you don't have to lose anymore weight and you're on your way. Surgery day will be here in no time!

I'll be on IM later tonight if you're there. Can't wait to talk to you about it all. Did you end up bringing hubby and Aud with you?

Can't wait to meet you all on Monday! :)

Nicole so glad you liked Dr. Baggs! I hear good things about him. I hope to have surgery in early March, I don't see Dr. Baggs until 1/23 so do you think that's a resasonable expectation?

Riley

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
