Hi Girlies~

The fat train has left the station!! I worked out this morning...through the back pain. I only did 30 min (a bit over 5 miles) on the bike...but since I haven't worked out in 2 weeks, I am pretty proud. My back is ok...but I am being very gingerly w/ it. Sat there was NO PAIN!!

Since I defended...I think I've put on 10 pounds! In 2 weeks?! I am going to do good w/ eating this week too. I get a small fill on Thursday. We are having lasagne tonight, but if I make a salad and have a small piece...I should be ok!

I have this big meeting today for a Structural Racism Townhall meeting I am organizing! It is a duty of the Human Rights Commission that was basically "dumped" on my lap. But the last guy completely dropped the ball, so I want to do it and do it VERY WELL. I'll be working closely w/ the mayor...it is my turn to shine!

Tracy...enjoy your TROUBLE!

Jane...I love the star thing...but then you need to reward yourself w/ something (not food) for each increment of stars gathered.

Laura...LOVE THE ONSIE! Very cute!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Hey All,

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I have had an exhausting weekend. I had an event or dinner at someones house every day since Wednesday and I am beat. I don't mean just tired, I mean utterly and completely exhausted. I need to crank down my social calendar a few notches . . . it just doesn't work well with late pregnancy.

I am excited today because I have a baby shower this afternoon. It will be a picnic in the park kind of deal so I am looking forward to it. If only i could find a way to fanagle a nap before I go, lol. :0)

Yesterday was a two milkshake kinda day. Have I lost my mind???? I think so. I don't know why I seem to be trying so hard to make the work on weight loss harder on myself after the baby comes.

I had corn on the cob yesterday, first time I have had it since last Summer. It was really good and I can no longer eat it banded when I am restricted. I can always eat a little corn with restriction but I get uncomfortable and am prone to pb'ing for a couple of days after. It is the only food that seems to give me delayed reaction misery when I am restricted (although it is fine with an empty band). Does anyone else get this?

There was a derby this weekend, lol??? I know that one exists but had no idea when it occurs. I don't really watch TV anymore with work, graduate school and socializing and my friends must not be following it much either since it didn't come up in conversation. It must not be as popular up here in the Northeast urban setting, or I must be living under a rock, because I didn't have a clue.

20 Tips for a better ride!

by Jon Gordon

1. Take a 10-30 minute “Thank you” walk every day. While you walk practice gratitude. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. Buy a TIVO, tape your late night shows and get more sleep—it’s the ultimate energizer.

4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: My purpose is to___________ today.

5. Live with the 3 E's. Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.

6. Read more books.

7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, qigong and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.

8. Do the “one thing” you have always wanted to do.

9. Dream more while you are awake.

10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less foods that are manufactured in plants.

11. Mentor someone and be mentored by someone.

12. Engage in daily random acts of kindness.

13. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing positive energy into your life.

14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control.. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

16. Eat Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.

18. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements:

I am thankful for __________.

Today I accomplished____________.

19. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy it.

Hi girls! Busy week last week for me and crazy weekend too...

I feel utterly exhausted and can't wait for the end of this month... I am seriously needing another vacation. Late nights here at the office and then lots of appointments at the wedding venue in the evenings.

Michelle and Pam - I can't wait to see ya'll soon. I'm gonna have to leave Sunday night instead of Monday morning though because my dad scheduled our vacation starting that Monday. So I get home from Palm Springs sunday night and leave for Cabo monday morning... Oh what a horrible predicament i'm in...

Pam - I'm so glad your back is feeling better. Was it anything to do with the exercises you were doing??

Michelle - YAY on disney! I love Disney and haven't been in about 5 years. Last time we went we said we wouldn't go back until one of us had kids but I don't think we realized that it would take us so long to get there, LOL. We might have to re-think that pact.

Jane - I'm so happy to hear that you're back under 300! Yay you. You are doing awesome with this new attitude that you have. I would do the 5th star for attitude. If you kept up a healthy attitude when it comes to your weight then I would award a 5th star. And then like Pam said, reward yourself but not with food.

Terry - Did you have fun shopping for your boss?? I absolutely love the process of spending money so even if i'm not shopping for me I'm still pretty darn happy, LOL. I wonder if I could ever be a personal shopper for someone? I have no taste but that won't matter, LOL...

Tracy - woo hoo on your workouts!! The hardest part is just getting there and you're doing that so go you!!

Judy - I wish we had an indoor Water park/hotel close to here. That sounds so awesome! I'm glad Kris is doing good!

Laura - Is Carson doing better with his sleeping? Are you getting enough rest?? That sucks about the money issue. But I think that everything will soon get back to normal... You're just not used to so much coming out at once...

Kat - I think your approach to your son and grandson is good. He needs to realize that there will be consequenses for him not teaching his son good behavior. I'm so glad that you're taking a stand now when he's little.

Okay, i'm sure I missed a bunch of you but I seriously need to get back to work now... I'll be back later!

Pamela, thanks for the ride tips!!!

Hiya Girls~

Haydee...pick a later flight Sunday...as late as possible. I am sure MIchelle, Susanne and I will find something to do.

Do you guys want to take the celebrity tour? We get on an air conditioned bus and they drive us to all the famous people's houses? Just a thought...I've never done it, but it would ve fun to take some pictures of the famous houses. If not we can drink, shop and eat until the party.

Sure is quiet here. I guess Tracy really found some trouble...trouble sounds good right about now:wink:

As many as one in 100 vasectomies may fail to prevent pregnancy within five years of the procedure, a new study shows.

Researchers say that the study shows that like other birth control methods, vasectomies are not always 100% effective.

The study showed that six pregnancies were reported among 540 women within six weeks to 1.5 years after their husbands had a vasectomy.

Just gigglin'.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
