Jenn the kitchen does look great!!!

Pamela, that pic that you sent out alone looked like you both were sunburned, were you?

Home early slow day, Charlie at work started getting way under my skin so I left. Didn't have anyone, and the phone wasn't ringing and weather is very very rainy and windy. The whole shop itself looks terrible, there are holes in the ceiling, and stains on the walls and ceilings and is so dirty looking, and he starts hollering at me about a can of Soup on the refrigerator!!

I am so over his attitude, it is so odd and quirky (I am being nice!!!).

Oh well another day another dollar!!

Getting ready to go snuggle up w/400 PTA newsletters that need stapling... I know, I've got the life, right??

I made a pot roast in the crocker all day today... mmm... I took 1 slice + a bowl w/onions & broth and I ate only 1/2 the slice & bowl... so maybe somethin's happnin in there?

Then -- completely out of the blue, especially for a "school" night -- DH announces that he wants to take us out for ice cream @ DQ! WTF?? Ai yai yai! So we go, & I got the 50-cal sugar-free, fat-free ("fun-free" the kids were calling it) bar on a stick. Actually, it was pretty chocolatey. So I did good & am happy w/myself today.

Think of me ker-chunking the night away!!

Home from work.

I tried working out with one of the girls and just about killed myself. I'm so sore from the workout the night before.

I did ok on the eating part today. Sister said she would make dinner tonight. Here it is 8:30 and it's still not ready. So I guess I will just get me some yogurt. I hate eating late at night because it backs up and I have heartburn all night than.

Jenn, Love the pics. You've done such a wonderful job. You should be proud of yourself.

Judy, We are going to miss you something awful. Hopefully sometime during your trip you will be able to drop us a line.

TracyK, Hang in there girl. We worry about you alot.

Kat, I admire you ability to just stick to Soups after a fill.

I'm gonna finish DWTS and than head to bed.

I'll yack at all of you tomorrow. Night.

Hey I just thought of a question, does any here take Probiotics? I read an article that is you crave sugar it may be the cause of too much yeast in your system, and if you take a probiotic it helps. I don't have female yeast problems, but don't know if the two are connected.

Jane

Good point, Jane.... and that is true about the yeast overgrowth. You can google it...there's a wide range of symptoms and a simple saliva test you can do at home. But probiotics are always good to take...we all should, really. I also heard on NPR this morning that they are thinking that 75% of us are deficient in Vitamin D which leads to bone loss, and atherosclerosis! We should be taking 1,000 IU but the RDA is 400 IU. Drink that milk, girls!

Think of me ker-chunking the night away!!

This cracked me up!! What good sound effects you have! What's the proper term for that, anyway... alliteration or something like that? Nah, that's not it. Who's the English major in da house?

Oh, I wish I had some drugs for a good night sleep. That sounds yummy. LOL

Your kitchen looks WONDERFUL, Jenn!! I'm happy for you...it's just gorgeous! What color are the walls...? kinda like watermelon? cranberry? It's hard to tell, but I LIKE it!!

I think I've figured out your problem. Pssssssssst, you're not supposed to eat the bowl!!!!:huh2::tt2::)
ROFL!!! Yep, that'll cause problems fo sho.

Judy, I am so so terribly jealous of your trip. I need to get out of town in the worst way! Hey, i'd settle for a weekend in Galveston at this point, but a cruise to Hawaii would be incredible!! You and Bob are very lucky! Ya'll have worked hard and I'm glad you're enjoying your retirement to the fullest!

Hey, we never saw Haydee pop on did we? :huh2: Wahh.

Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh! Yep, that must be it! WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT YOU, JUDY??

:huh2:

You'd think that for a professional writer/editor, I'd be able to communicate more clearly, wouldn't you?

To clarify... clearly... I consumed 1/2 the slice of beef and 1/2 of the contents of the bowl... a little bowl... 3/4 cup max.

You yuck me up, Judy! Nothing gets by you!!

I'm done w/the stapling & am now noodling around on the laptop while watching Biggest Loser... wow these folks are looking good! I haven't really followed it this season, but whenever I do catch it, it is inspiring. Maybe if we walked around in those skin-tight lycra shorts and sleeveless tank tops, followed around by the dramatic music, then making better food choices and exercising would be easier, huh?? I am SO glad I don't have an outfit like that, tho... it would NOT be lovely, trust me! LOL!! :huh2:

Janie... I've been using the Activia probiotic yogurt to make my Protein smoothies. I haven't really notice a difference in digestion, however... but I'm probably not eating enough.

Terry----anyone else too----you can take a vacation to NM. I am not far from the Colorado mountains.....was just in them full of snow yesterday! I took some pics, visibility was less thana quarter of a mile, it was coming down hard at Wolf Creek ski resort!

Maybe Steamboat should be something to think about for next trip. Oh yeah, I remember we discussed it, but the airport was an issue. It is a fun place---lots of little Colorado towns are.

Saw an ad for Southwest Airlines, they have a special going on, not sure it can help anyone---but might be worth checking. Book flights before mid April, fly before August, for $49-$99 bucks each way.

Well Rick is laying in the floor in front of the fire snoring.....loudly! Think I will wake him up and go to bed. First I will go brush my teeth, and get myself ready!!!

I ate another little bowl of Soup, and have continued to drink my Water. I am going to have a massive caffeine withdrawal headache by tomorrow I am thinking....but so far so good!

Suzanne, it is not a big deal sticking to the soup, I am not hungry and when I do eat, I feel too full for awhile, so it limits what I eat, as well as the want to eat. Been awhile since I felt this!!! LOL, Oh yeah I really AM banded!!!

Everyone have a great night.

Morning gals

all these places we can visit... Not much happens here, nothing exciting, but you are all welcome to come visit upstate NY too, would love to have you.

Michelle, send me some of your motitvation would you?

actually, i will use my back as an excuse, but, it is cold and windy here, but spring is just a day or away and i'm going to start walking again. I walked up my hill last week at 3am, and i was only slightly out of breath, where even last spring i would have been dead 1/2 way up.

Thanks again for all the kitchen comments.... i do love it in there

Terry - the color is Old Mexico - so a brick kind of cyanne color.... i love it and my tan living room is going to be a deeper mocha/chocolate type color when it is all done.

anyway, i am late for work, what a shock....i'll try to check in but lots of company today.

have a great day everyone

oh... Laura... I meant to say i'm so excited for you... weekly visits... you are getting so close!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
