Good afternoon Violets..

Are we back?? Are we REALLY back??? No baby news yet. And I too love the name Madison Rose. I get the feeling Grady Nathan is not popular with you guys.. lol Not with me either, but they didn't ask me. :( Kris has always liked the name Madison and Rose is for Rose from Golden Girls. She and her Grandma Case always watched that show together along with Lucy, but Kris's St. Bernard is named Lucy so they couldn't use it for the baby. Nathan was an amazing pitcher in high school and was scouted by some major league teams, but decided to go to college instead and become a P.A. Anyhoo, Grady is the name of a baseball player so that's the signficance of using it.

I've been working on a business card for our flute quartet. I'll post it and see what you think. I think it turned out pretty neat.

Off to the bank to deposit my check and then home to clean a bit before going to the basketball game and dinner out tonight.

The business card looks great :0).

It is hard for me to imagine a baby named Grady . . . but like most names, children grow into them and it isn't long before you can't imagine them with any other name. I think part of it is that I never knew anyone with that particular name. Madison is really pretty though and it's easy to imagine a little girl with that name.

'Would you like dinner? ', the flight attendant asked John, seated in front.

'Yes or no,' she replied.

SMART ASS ANSWER #5

Without missing a beat, she said, 'Sir, I need to see your ticket, not your stub.'

SMART ASS ANSWER #2

A truck driver was driving along on the freeway and noticed a sign that read: Low Bridge Ahead. Before he knows it, the bridge is right in front of him and his truck gets wedged under it. Cars are backed up for miles.

The truck driver says, 'No, I was delivering this bridge and I ran out of gas.'

SMART ASS ANSWER OF THE YEAR 2008!!

A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. 'Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury, illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!'

A smart-ass student in the back of the room raised his hand and asked, 'What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?'

The entire class is reduced to laughter and snickering. When silence was restored, the teacher smiled knowingly at the student, shook her head and sweetly said, 'Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand.'

A woman is standing nude looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'

The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.

Michelle - I'm so glad you didn't take our advice and are helping your neighbor so much!! He will remember your kindness always...and so with the kids. Nothing like a woman's touch to make a house feel warm. Good job thinking of the tablecloth and candle. Nice touch! So, who's this uncle that's living there? PT or FT? (nosey me!!!)

Well, Laura....if you can't figure out where the house is, then we are in BIG BIG trouble!!!

Judy and Pamela -- This is for you!......

A teacher was explaining biology to her 4th grade students. "Human beings are the only animals that stutter," she said.

A little girl raised her hand. "I had a kitty-cat who stuttered."

The teacher, knowing how precious some of these stories could become, asked the girl to describe the incident.

"Well," she began, "I was in the back yard with my kitty and the Rottweiler that lives next door got a running start and before we knew it, he jumped over the fence into our yard!"

"That must've been scary," said the teacher.

"It sure was," said the little girl. "My kitty raised her back, went 'Sssss, Sssss, Sssss,' and before she could say 'Shit!' the Rottweiler ate her!"

Hey girls~

Just said goodbye to the firemen and policemen, the damn HS kids set my hillside on fire again. I think each year these kids get more worthless around here!

We have 25 mph winds today with 40 mph gusts, so they built a fire in my wheelbarrow......that they broke into the shed to get.....and expected it to stay in the WB I guess. Well it is winter, and the only Water I have up there is irrigation water, and the ditch is dry for the season, so had to call the FD. Actually the neighbor called, I was having lunch with the crew from Rick's work.

Come home, and they were working on it. Filed the complaint, let them take some footprint casts, they took some soda bottles, a pipette (smoking crack up there too I guess), and I signed a waiver for the police and the school resource officer, who is also an officer, to access my yard and property at any time, with or without me here. As that is the best way to sneak up on the property. Then he went next door to my neighbors and got an ok to hide out in his chicken house at some point. Then the city will file the charges, I won't have to....in fact they encouraged me to come to the hearing and say point blank I do not want to file charges, so they would be less apt to retaliate after the fact.

So I lost another tree.....and ended up really irate....and now my hives are howling!

When I went up there the other day the kids--4 boys--------were up on the next hillside which is twice as high, heckling me. Then while I had Kinsey and Connor in the yard yesterday they meandered off my property like it was theirs. I did not want trouble because I had the kids, so I simply said "boys that is private property, please quit hanging out up there" To which I was told to F off. Then this today. Hope they catch them, as it is now, I am afraid to let Kinsey play in the yard alone.

I blame some of it on my neighbor, he let them hang out up there for weeks before letting me know. He thought they were just sitting around, and was not bothered by it, until they decided to sit around in his Beemer he is restoring out there! THEN he gets upset. Well now they like it, they are settled. We got rid of our lawn furniture up there, so they had nowhere to sit. They rolled logs in from somewhere. We got rid of them, they brought more. We got rid of those last weekend....now all this.

With the way the wind is blowing, I could have lost my house, and all my outbuildings, not just a $60.00 wheelbarrow. It is frustrating to say the least.

Would LOVE to bury a wicked bear trap.....then I would hurt one of them and feel bad tho.....not to mention the going to jail thing!!

Gonna go make sure there is nothing smoldering in this wind.

BBL if the site will allow!

Hah hah, I'm sure the directions are right, I just can't 'picture' where it is--I've been to that lake my whole life and don't remember nice houses (we always stayed in cabins).

Judy I really like Grady too!! It was kind of on my list, but it's my deceased g'dad's middle name.. and he was abusive and sort of distant from my family (my mom hated him, etc.).. But I did like the name!!

Good grief, Kat, that's terrible...so glad the FD made it in time, especially with you being gone....kids today have no respect for people's property...

Well, had my fill yesterday...overall he was pleased...down 79 lbs in 2 yrs...found out they have a new 3rd office even closer to me....right now they are the only office in a brand new 4 story building!

Ok, I have a question that I have been dying to ask...Judy, why do you put a CAPITAL E in Pamela's name???

Well off to get sheets outta dryer and vacuum up here...I'll be later...

Judy.....THAT is what I forgot to say earlier! I like the name Grady.....if Kinsey had been a boy she would have been either Grady or Brady......both names on my Dads side....now as she has been researching my Moms side, she found a relative distantly that was named Keziah.....so she is entertaining that, even tho she says she is done with having kids!

I like her choices in names. And as for middle names, the only way to find out what works is pretend to be mad and utter them through clenched teeth!!! LOL

When we were in Gruene, PamELa told us about her cleaning lady. Pam said she called her Pam EL a with the accent on the EL, so that's what I've called her ever since.

Hey gals,

Thanks for the "atta girls" re: the cleaning... it's not that I didn't take your all's advice, Terri, it's that I'm phasing it in! I decided that I had to try to help them, and as I told them yesterday, they have to try to keep what I/we do maintained, and that if they do, then I'll keep coming, but if they don't, well, then, I'll know I did my best & can let them be without guilt on my part. Does that make sense? But the phasing in part is, that I keep planting the seeds of thought of how THEY can maintain, such as to hire someone to come in just for bathrooms, the kitchen, & changing sheets (I've never been in the bathroom & I don't think I want to!). So we'll see how it goes.

BUT... the sweetest thing happened last night... I check the phone voicemail & there's a call from the son & he says, "This is ___. Thank you." That's why I'm doing it.

The uncle... is the wife's brother. How to describe him??... he's quirky, w/his own medical issues (heart, diabetes)... he doesn't work (disability)... he's a big guy... he lived w/their Mom 'til she died last Sept... so then when the wife died, he moved in w/them to help w/the son. The dad works in Va. + goes to school so is often away for long stretches of time, so the uncle does what needs to be done, feeds him, takes him to activities, etc. He's shy... it took awhile to warm up to him (cuz' at first I thought he was just odd)... but then I saw and appreciated how much he cares about the son and how much he's helping in his own way, and now we're pals. Once I went there and I said, "Can I give you a hug?" and he said, "That's my new life philosphy. Accept hugs when offered." So I did. It should be "interesting" working w/him on the kitchen! He can't do heavy stuff, like bending down or heavy lifting, but I'm confident he can maintain the place a little bit each day if he tried.

Last item... I'm dancing on the edge of sickness, darn it! Head/throat/eyes... feels like strep?? Ugh. Put myself to bed @ 6 last night after snapping at the famliy... :(... that's not me. Long night of bad sleep... hope today is better.

Judy, am excited for you!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
