Hi hi hi hi girls! How is everyone today? Cooollllddd here today in Houston. A low 30 degrees... I know I know, Jenn and Suzie and Judy are freezing their asses off in below zero weather but we're babies here in Texas. Our skin is not made to withstand this type of cold, LOL.

I am currently battling a cold. I've had it since Friday. Been taking lots of medicine hoping it never really sets in. I have way too much stuff to still do and I can't get sick.

We never made it out of town on Friday since my LITTLE SISTER was picked up for speeding and having several outstanding warrants. LOVELY. She was speeding to get home on Friday so that we could leave on our little vacation. So anyways. She had a few tickets that she never took care of so she got taken in. When she called us she told us not to post bond for her since it would be $200 bond for each ticket and then she'd still have to go to court and pay for each ticket. So she stayed in jail until late Saturday night and we went and picked her up. I hope she learned her lesson. She is really irresponsible with her stuff and I feel like she's never gonna grown up...

Anyways, instead of me getting all this stuff done since we didn't end up going out of town I actually didn't get much done. We went from party to party to party each night and during the day I was baking and cleaning.

We have a party tonight, and one tomorrow night and I still have presents to buy and like 10 to wrap. My laundry hasn't been put away and I have to pack to leave on my trip! What the heck, when am I gonna get all this done? It hurts my head to even think about it...

Terry, dishes are gorgeous! How many place settings did you get? Once I accumulate 12 settings of my regular china I will start getting some Christmas china. This pattern is just gorgeous. Do you know if it's new for '08?

Suzie - Pics are too cute!! Abby looks so happy! I'm sorry but I am brain dead this morning. Is she your granddaughter?

Tracyks - Robby looks so cute! And mama looks so hot! The best compliment I ever got was from my dad. It was about 6 months ago. I walked in the door and he goes, "hey there skinny". OMG, I was over the moon.... Isn't that funny? I'm just a daddy's girl and always seek his approval....

Rules rules rules... I threw them out the window along time ago. I know that I'm not setting a good example for my banded sisters when I'm not following one single rule. I drink and eat. I drink carbonated drinks. I eat sweets. I eat late. I forgo Protein for junk.... on and on and on. I need to get back in the game too...

Okay, i've got tons to do here at work. i leave wednesday and don't come back for 12 days! yippeeeeee...

be back later...

Russell called his mom this morning to find out if his dad's surgery was scheduled.. good news is, sounds like it will be after the holidays! It's a 6 hour long procedure, so they're trying to find a spot for it, but as we all know it's hard to fit such a long surgery in on short notice.

Then she said this morning she went to wake up (Russell's youngest brother) and his middle brother's fiance (the 40 year old with 3 kids) was in bed with him. Isn't that just about as redneck as they come? His middle brother is out of town visiting their g'ma right now. Should be an interesting Christmas!!

Terry those dishes are beautiful, I love the swirls on them!

I forget the other personals, I know everyone posted some great pics I looked through this weekend (I read on the weekends, just don't post because nothing to say).

I slept most of the weekend, shopped some yesterday with mom and she bought me a (soft) faux fur coat. She wanted to get me a blousy winter coat, and it's not my style so I just let her pick out whatever she wanted. Can't wear the stuff I normally like to right now anyway, may as well have a warm coat!

Oh and sure enough it went from 70 degrees to 17 today! I don't even have a coat for this weather.. mom is giving me that fur coat for Christmas!

Have her give it to you early! I did that to my mom! I was wanting to wear this beautiful blouse to a party last week and I didn't have earrings or a necklace to match. My mom told me she had the perfect set for me but couldn't give it to me because it was my Christmas present. I begged and pleaded with her and I got it! I'm probably gonna wear it to Christmas dinner so that I can show off my present. So can you!

OK...we had a nice turn out for the surprise...and boy was it ever! They loved it and cried! It was really nice. We had breaky, then BOSTON CREAM PIE at 9am...how evil is that??? OH well...it will ALL BE OVER SOON ENOUGH. I am not letting Susanne wash my jeans until mid Jan. LOL, they will be able to walk out of here by then, but they fit good now...after a wash...well, not so much! It is supposed to rain here today. The guy is supposed to fix the electric mother board thing too, but i am not sure if that will happen in the rain. We are gonna be w/o electricity for 45 min...so I've got to pop over and post grades quick!

Love you...I love the hustle and bustle of this time of year. Oh yea, my damn back flaired up this morning...sooooo...I am sitting on ice!

Looong boring day, this week is so dead.. most of our customers are closed till Monday already.

Went to Chili's and had my Tilapia today.. mmmmm it's SO good.

sleeping is even more uncomfortable, I hate it, feels like I'm pulling a muscle in my belly no matter how I lay.

I can't wait to ice Cookies & play Santa for Carson! Not next Christmas, but Christmas '10.. woohoo.

Someone at work got me a hot chocolate gift set, but they didn't leave a card or anything so I have no idea who gave it to me to thank them. Some reason I remember this happening last year too..

I got 2 presents early today!!

Well PAMela, I didn't know you didn't wrap them so I opened the box.. SO CUTE. I added it to my closet collection of baby stuff (I am going to take a pic one of these days, I seem like a crazy person hoarding all kinds of baby stuff in this big closet..you'd think I was going to kidnap a kid and it will live in there) and I love the fairy cards, those are the kind I normally buy for myself--but haven't in a long time!

(((LOVE MY PAMMY)))

Then, I had a package that (still) says out for delivery-today.. and UPS came.. brought Pam's package and a Pajama Gram. I thought, maybe my thing came in a Pajama Gram package, couldn't remember where I ordered it, so maybe an ebay seller sent in that.. anyway, it was a lovely pajama set with a note "Merry Christmas Baby" OOPS! I told Russell he should have sent it to himself, apparently I wasn't suppose to get that yet. It's nice fluffy furry pajamas, great for weather we're having right now! And it's cute that he picked them out, I don't think he's ever bought me clothes before so I've never seen him pick out something for me to wear.

Anyway.. went to mom's and helped her wrap her last presents, she put $100 bills in random medicine boxes for all us kids.. tampon box, duculax box, immodium box, etc. (She's a funny lady sometimes). I said Russ has to get the tampon box, that way I'll end up with his money.. he's so funny he won't touch my tampons or pads, the boxes even..so he's going to open it and drop it on the floor lol.

And I'm off to bed, I am exhausted.

Jane I know you won't get this now, but I'm really praying for you that you don't have to spend Christmas in the hospital

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
