heheheh RELAXXXXXXXXX! it is all scarey in the beginning but trust me once you get use to not eating and eating and eating ! You will be fine, you will find there are foods you can't eat any more, one thing I learned is you have to remeber you will have 2 stomaches, and the one we use is smaller,a nd wont take the foods we use to eat, like acidey or greasey foods, wont set well! So be don't be surprised if you get sick from certain foods you use to love! I woke up in recovery! ANd said what the hell have I done, but after that I was fine, and have not regeretted for one minute! I have a whole new me and a whole new out look on life! And yes I would do this surgery over time and time again, with no questions asked. It is like most things in life, it is what you make it to be. You can loose the weight and keep it off, or learn the ways to cheat and blame everyone else for you not loosing weight. It is hard at first to change your ways of eating and you think you are not getting enough but you will know when you are hungry and need food. Just remeber to drink plenty of fluids and take vitamens.

I went to the info session on 7/9. I picked the Saturday afternoon session. I checked in a waited in what looked like a hallway with chairs. It was a pretty full house about 50 people. We were introduced to Michelle the patient coordinator, Nicole the dietitian, Jodi the patient advocate ( she has the band and lost 80lbs her goal weight) and of course the Dr’s. Dr Horgan is not all business he answered all of the questions we had and he is very witty too. I like that he is no nonsense he said “ if this does not work for you then you are not working the band”. I signed up for a consult right after the session. I had to wait until 8/5 for my consult. I got there kinda late, I had to take the Metra and a cab to get there and traffic was crazy. When I got there about 4:20 I could tell everyone was getting ready to pack up and go (it was a Friday, so who isn’t ready to leave early) Anyway I got weighed EEK! Had my BP taken, etc. Then Michelle came in to ask me about insurance, I told her I was a self pay then we moved on to meet the Dr. Dr Horgan was on vacation so I met with his associate cant remember his name but we talked for about ½ hr. He agreed that I was a good candidate and from there sent me to the dietitian. By then she was ready to leave but did stay to talk to me briefly about my diet now and after the band. Well the all checked off on my chart (required) so next is the psych eval on 8/31 I have an afternoon appt so I would have more time and not feel rushed. The receptionist said after the psych eval I would set up an appt for my pre-op testing and from there it would be about 2 weeks before my surgery date! That’s fast, but if feel prepared. I was thinking I would do it in Jan, you know to start the new year but I want to use this as a tax deduction for this year. So in the mean time I am researching financing companies and trying not to go crazy thinking/ obsessing about this.

125lbs here I come!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
