I have enjoyed my last 2 days off. Yesterday, I went walking around my neighborhood for about an hour. Today I went to gym for my Water aerobics. The weight is still not coming off but I am sticking to it. I go back to doctor's on tues. I will bring all info to them to see what is up. I am also starting to bruise easily. I hope everyone is doing well too. Laurel

I think I finally got the scale moving in the right direction. Seems I have to have a day of eating some bad things and boom, I drop some. Go figure. I am going to continue to eat right, but on one day of the weekend, treat myself in a small portion of something yummy, lol. Only 6 more days to Vegas. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Laurel

Well, I went and had another 1cc put into my band and I am down 10 lbs since last visit which was 7/30. I worked very had for every one of those 10 lbs. I have another appoint for 9/22. I am finally heading in the right direction again. I am still up around 10 lbs since my slip. I am getting very excited about vacation. The only bad part is I go back to work once I get back. I get spoiled with my time off, lol. Whoever thinks this is easy, is dead wrong. I am going to make it work!! Where is Rose? You stay strong too China. Laurel

Hello everyone. I got home around 2am this morning. I had a great trip. Rode on a harley, saw the hoover damn, and went to a place called red rock cayon. The time just flew by. I am glad to be home though. How everyone is doing well. Laurel

Hi everyone. Summer has been fun, but I'm still at a plateau. Went to the beach at the end of July then camping another week in mid August. Have a good tan, but no more weight loss. None gained either. I did have some GREAT news recently. When I had surgery they did the liver biopsy & I was told I had fatty liver/enlarged liver/some damage throughout the liver. Was sent to a specialist last Feb. He said with losing weight it might reverse itself. He scheduled me to come back in 6 months (last week). The results were that my liver enzymes were all normal!!! They had been elevated for probably 5-6 years. The last test just before the lap band surgery they were almost twice what the normal range is. I was told to keep on doing what I am doing & come back in six months. Had they been elevated dr. would have put me on metformin, a diabetes drug that has proven to help w/fatty liver. I am so ecstatic over these results. I am definitely healthier even though I feel I have slowed down considerably. Will keep on with my eating habits and surely will lose a pound or two soon. Hope everyone is doing well

Hello Everyone,

I am sorry I have been gone so long. But things have been very crazy for me. My mother has now been diagnosed with terminal cancer along with my mother in law. I am now taking care of both of them with the help of my dear husband and children. I promised both of them that I would not put them in any kind of hospital and that I would care for them at home. My mother in law is currently going through monthly chemo treatments. My mother on the other hand has decided to no longer have anymore treatments and we are just trying to manage her pain and make her comfortable.

On a brighter note my weight loss is going along well I am losing about 5lbs a month and I will take that anyday. I don't think I need anymore fills as the weight is coming off at a steady rate. I see my doctor on Thursday and I will leave it up to him..but I think I am good.

I am so happy to read that everyone is doing so well and is on track. I am so very proud of all of you. Keep up the good work.

I am attaching a current picture of me any my husband.

MRose, I'm sorry to hear the news about your mother. I can't imagine what you must be going through with the situation. It sounds like you do have a good support system which is so important. Remember to take care of yourself although it will be more difficult than ever. The caregivers get run down so easily. Your pix is great! It looks to me like you don't need to lose any more. I still have a good amount around my middle (stomach) to lose. Have skinny legs & no butt. It's all in the middle....and on my neck :sneaky:

Take care.

Wow Rose, you look Great. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom and Mother-IL. China I hope you have a great time on your trip. I am walking on Saturday for The "Walk from Obesity". I feel like obesity has effected my whole life. I am trying to raise some money for this. If anyone is interested in donating(tax deductable) to this, I will send you the link to my site for donations. I haven't really excercised since I got back from Vegas, I started back to work on tuesday with all half days. Seemed like I didn't get any breaks during the day. I hope everyone is doing well. Laurel

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
