What happens if you hit 10cc in a 10cc band?

Recommended Posts

Just curious, what happens if you fill your band completely. Has this happen to anyone?

I just asked my doctor this a few days ago and he said he has never once had someone's band totally filled. He assured me that won't happen so... Also remember there is .8 cc of "dead space" from the tubing so a 10cc band can really be filled to 10.8 but he insists he has never had one totally filled. I hope this helps a little.

Olliegator, where do you live? I see you were banded in Ocala and based on your Avatar.... I live in Tallahassee (but I am a gator fan, moved here from Gainesville, lol)

I have a 9cc Realize band and as of yesterday it is full with 9cc's of Fluid. My physician's assistant that does my fills thinks I will have good restriction now (it was pretty good at 8cc's but I could still eat more than I think I should be able to) but if I don't he said we can add more but it has to be under the supervision of my surgeon. Not sure how much more. I'm hoping this thing starts to work now and I won't have to find out!! I'm starting to wonder if $16,000 was a very wise investment.......

I have a close friend who has an overfill in the Vanguard Lap Band. I think it's 1cc over, and she still has very little restriction. She got the band October 2007, and she's only lost 25 lbs. I don't know if it could be the band placement, the size of the band, or what could have caused this problem for her. She's considering having gastric bypass surgery at this point.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
