Mom2Two - I hope the removal goes without complication and you can get back to life without pain. I'm so sorry that happened to you - a slipped band is no joke.

Maybe you will have a cause of action against the doc who put it in the wrong place? Seems to me that they should be responsible for at least SOME of what you've been through...the fact that they didn't put it in the right place to begin with...

Let us know how you're doing - your date is coming up soon!:bored:

Ebony girl you ROCK! That is so awesome, 50lbs gone and never to be seen again.

Thank you so much, Tkl! I'm really excited about it...

That will do the trick...in no time at all, we'll be reading about you kicking that plateau to the curb!

Luck and Hugs to all!

Thanks DD! :scared2: I was SO excited when I stepped on the scale and saw that...next goal is to reach 50% of my loss target - that will happen in another 7 or so pounds, and then I'm shooting for Onederland!:bored:

Good for you, Ebony Rose! It must be a wonderful feeling. I am not there yet. I had to have an unfill six weeks ago and I think he took out more than he put in to begin with, or I am back at no restriction for the past six weeks. This has been a lot slower than I expected, but the weight I have lost is gone forever. Any tips on what you are doing? I seem to be stuck here.

Hi Glammaw!

It sounds simple, but I know it's not...I do have a good level of restriction, and I'm making much better choices with my food. Sometimes my old carb-heavy habits come back to bite me (mostly around the time of my period) but for the most part, I'm concentrating on low-fat Protein sources, I'm eating much less bread (it gets stuck) and eating more veggies. I walk with my DD and DDog every morning - at least a mile - and I also walk 20- 25 min at a fast pace a lunchtime, weather permitting. If it's pouring raining, I don't go, but if it's just sprinkling, off I go!

I also walk from my building to the train station every day (a little over a mile) at a fast pace. If I'm not huffing, puffing and sweating, I'm not walking fast enough! I'm not eating as much fruit as I used to (it tends to raise my blood sugar - I'm a type II diabetic) and I will take longer walks on the weekend - double my normal distance / time.

That's really it - it sounds simple, as I said above, but I know it's not. It's really about the level of restriction for me - I've hit my 'sweet spot' and life, right now, is really good.

I'm also excited about wearing a smaller size - I'm firmly in a size 18, with some even starting to get a little looser. I know I've got to focus more on my strength training, though - I can feel myself getting soft and a little sloppy, and that's affecting how I think I look right now. I'm not happy with my 'visual', but I know it's a process.

Hang in there - once you get your correct level of restriction, it will be easier to lose the weight. Sometimes I stall for a week or two, but I can usually get things moving again if I go to Protein Shakes for a couple of days and up my workouts (or just change them)...

Let me know how you're doing!

Thanks for the kind words. I know I don't exercise as much as I should, but having had both knees replaced slows you down a whole lot. No excuses though...I am in this for the long haul. I can feel myself slipping back to the carbs if I don't watch, especially when I don't show any loss. I am going on vacation and hoping to just hold my own....a loss would be a blessing. But, I get a fill on the 15th and that will help. You keep up the good work because it is really working for you. And, congratulations on 50#s lost....be very proud of yourself!

sistasassy,

What do you mean your band closes off? I got 2cc's put in last time & food keeps getting stuck and I either PB or wait it out so about an hour and I feel better, that isnt closed off though right? KimmyQ

Hi all you behaving and losing Notorious novembers. You are all doing so well. I need some motivation. I haven't lost or gained much since I was here May 12th. The Carb addiction has returned so I eat the junk and then

I eat right. As soon as I get to the wall of 240 the junk food desire is back. Help !!! My restriction is about right, but I cheat and add liquid so I don't PB. There has been tons of stress, I'm planning on seeing a therpist to deal with the comfort food craving. My exercise is nil--the heat here is too much for me. Maybe just the thought of accountablity to all of you will help get me on track again. Any thoughts?? I'm so discouraged.

Thanks your fluffy friend.

You are doing very well! I have only lost 30 pounds....total. I was banded on 11/3 and have struggled every step of the way. I have restriction but every single pound lost has taken major effort! I got to the gym 3-4 times a week and still have only lost 30! I honestly do not think I would have lost any more or less if I was just going to the gym and never got the band. So your not alone....we all struggle at times. But rest assured you are doing well. Stay focused and you will prevail!

You have done very well. We were banded on the same day and you have lost a lot more weight. :(

Like you, I have gone several weeks without losing any weight. I think we just need to keep on keeping on. Look at how far we've come.

Okay girls, I'm right there with you. I stayed the same from 5/19 until today, and I finally had a 1-1/2 lb loss. I gained and lost the same 5 lbs for about 3 months!!!

Maybe we're all just getting too comfortable with our bands...you know, the new wore off, and the rules are a distant echo in our heads, and we're struggling...(kind of like we did before when we were on a diet.)

It is time to get recommitted to making this happen! Find the paperwork you got from your doctor. Re-read the rules, and the eating plan. If you need a fill...get it! If you are exercising...ramp it up a bit! If you're not exercising...get off your butt! Are you drinking enough Water? Following the eating rules? Track your food for a couple of weeks to make sure you're not eating TOO much or TOO little. Oh, and I'm directing this all squarely at myself! I am just as frustrated as the rest of you.

I know we can do this! Everybody set a reasonable goal...and let's achieve our goals together! Good luck to us all!

I totally agree with you 100%!! And this morning I went to the gym and "ramped it up a bit" I worked out for 1 hour, rode 8miles on the bike and done some weights! I need to get this moving....I think my problem is eating the wrong things! I vomit quite a bite (sorry to be gross) so I don't chew like I need too...have always been a fast eater but it has gotten better. I choose to eat less since it is hard to eat so many things...so I have to make better choices and monitor my intake better. I will be logging my meals every day and just over all being aware of what I eat!

What will you be doing differently? Let's sound off about this!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
