How much so far - total?

Went in for my 3rd fill today...and just happen to be at the 3 month mark.

27 pounds lost since surgery. Doctor said that is really good and then said NO FILL!!! :D

I have to wait 6 weeks again.

I feel like I'm just on the verge of getting to the sweet spot. I get to battle Thanksgiving on my own-I have just a little restriction now...by then, I'll have zip.

Oh man! Hang tough - you can get through the first part of this holiday season. Make sure you plan, plan, plan. I think that is going to be the key for the holidays. I am going to allow myself to taste and have bites of foods that I love, but make sure that it is just that - tiny amounts and not overdoing it. I am also going to make sure that I stay in my calorie amount and keep up with my protein!

Good Luck!

I was banded on August 13th, 08' and weighed 237 I am now down to 190. I just went in to get some jeans for the first time(I had a few put away in smaller sizes from when I was smaller) and thought I might be a 16 but no I was a loose 14. So that's kind of cool. I'm going on a cruise over Christmas and will finally have to buy clothes; I waited as long as a could before I had to get jeans/pants that weren't falling off me. I basically got to the point where I could pull down my pants without unbuttoning them. I'll probably be in a 12 in a few weeks.

49! Feel great! Surgery was 8/22/08 and I have had one fill and really don't think I need another yet. For the first time in my life I am going to the gym and loving it! Because of family traveling problems we had our Thanksgiving dinner Saturday. I did great and have a house full of leftovers and I am not tempted! I LOVE MY BAND!

Surgery Day - 202 lb, size 18

Today - 179.2, unsure of size but I know my pants are too loose and I love it!

Can't begin to find time for a real exercise regimen but I am working on it but I do feel so much better physically then I did before!

I was banded Aug 5th weight 216 lbs

first fill Oct 3rd

I had only dropped 20 lbs at that point. I didn't need to diet before hand.

Went for 2nd fill three weeks ago and I am down 4 more lbs at this time.

My pants are baggy, which I love but not in next size at this point, like I am in between.

So down 24 lbs as of today Nov 29th

Banded August 4 at 289 lbs. Now 222. I'm happy with progress so far -but so much more to go. Takes effort every day....but Dr told me I'm doing great! I go in Wed for another check/possible fill.

I am doing the happy dance today!! I am thrilled to say, that as of this morning, I am down 100 pounds!!!! I feel so much better that I have in years. I have not been this weight since the 1980's. As you can see from my ticker, I lost some before my surgery on a low carb diet. Good luck on your weight loss journeys to all of you, and have a happy holiday season. I am trying to remember that nothing taste as good a thin feels, for the holidays.

Wow, Karen, that is great! I can't even imagine being down 100 lbs. I can't wait to get there. It feels so great to be down 59 lbs. I will fill like a feather at 100 lbs and be able to run like the wind! Okay, I do get carried away sometimes - LOL!

100 pounds is amazing. go you!!

i'm down 48lbs as of this past Monday...my goal is to hit 51.5 (and thus have lost 50% of my excess body weight) before the new year. I'll be a "statistical" lap band success story then.

I've lost 54.2 pounds since my surgery on August 4!! At the time of surgery, I had a goal of 40 pounds by Christmas, but hoped to reach 50 or 60 - so right now I'm hoping for 60 by New Year's Eve!!

I've had one fill of 0.6 ccs in a 4 cc band, and when I went in for second fill, we decided that I really didn't need one. I go in again on January 5th.

You all ROCK!!!!!:wink2:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
