I had my lapband done in April 2008. I have lost a total of 56ish pounds. I am proud of myself for that accomplishment.

Now I'm at a stand still. I had my band adjusted once and when I went back for a check up my doctor wouldn't do another fill. He actually told me he was disappointed because I had only lost 4 pounds in 3 months. I know I need to be more active. I have noticed I am eatting more then the recommended, but I don't feel full as fast as I did. I'm very frustrated with myself, which makes me want to eat even more. (gotta love being an emotional eatter!) I'm also in the process of going through a divorce, so there is the stress of that along with starting my social work career. I just need some advice. I want to lose about 65 more pounds, but I'm stuck! I know some of it is my emotional state, which doesn't help matters. Anyone out there who can help please let me know.

I have also gotten sick more then usual. I know it's from either eatting the wrong thing or eatting that one more bite then I should have. Now I am having some major pain near my port. I don't know if that is related, but man it is uncomfortable.

annie i say excerise it will help with the emotional eating and the stress of everyday life as well as losing weight. for the first month it will feel crappy but after the inital month it will be great and you will find yourself just excerising just to relieve the stress

i was banded in april 2008 too! i've only lost 40 pounds so far and seem to have just stopped. i had to get a slight unfill in september and have to wait 2 months before i can get refilled. during these 2 months i gained 7 pounds back because i was able to eat more. i was so angry at myself that i started exercising which i hadn't done previously. i joined a "running class" that stated i would be running a 5k in 8 weeks. needless to say, i'm not ready for any 5k BUT i'm still trying... and hoping for maybe being ready in spring. i've lost those ugly 7 pounds but now i'm at a plateau again and not sure what to do either!

Make sure you are measuring out your food. That is the key for me. I can easily eat more then the recommended amount many times. If I have it measured out, I know what I get to eat.

I also agree with exercise. You will feel so much better and it will help relieve the stress. Hang in there, it will get better. I know how you feel with the emotional eating, that is my weak spot too!

Hi there! I was banded on 4/18/08 and I'm down 53 pounds. I have about 30 more to lose. I also have been at a stand still for about 3 weeks now. My doc told me that if I don't lose any weight and I am doing what I should be doing after 3-4 weeks, I need a small fill. I'm going in this Tuesday again. I have done that 3 times so far and each time he fills me I lose close to 10 pounds right away. So, maybe with the increased exercise and a small fill it might work for you. Great job so far! I'm starting to like the body I'm in for the first time in years! Good luck.

Exercise, exercise, exercise... Why did your doc refuse to a fill? That seems counterproductive. Make sure you keep a food journal and avoid slider foods... That WILL help. Hugs!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
