Hey nymphs...

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to check in with you all.

I have been B-U-S-Y at work lately. This new job keeps me hoppin'. Putting in anywhere between 12 and 16 hour days lately!

Man I have been really beating myself up lately for not being able to lose weight! I am yo-yoing the same 5-7 pounds. I fluctuate between 294 and 300 or so. I know I need to exercise, but geez with 16 hour days at work... well, you all know the "reasons".

I have got a fill appointment scheduled for December 22 when I go back to TX for a Christmas visit. I am stoked about that! Right now I am not eating just too bad, I have a kashi bar for Breakfast, a piece of Jerky for snak, usually a greek salad (almost every day) for lunch. (i am addicted) again a Jerky for afternoon snack and then whatever my wife fixes for supper. or we go out sometimes.

I am just frustrated as hell because I FLEW through the 100 pounds and then BAM... nuthin!

I feel like my jeans are getting tight again and I can't help but beat myself up for that...

Sorry for the sourpus posting... probably not the most encouraging thing you have read today...

Dude-

I am right there with you. You know that we just need to get back to basics to kick start the remainder of the weight. I only have 70lbs left to go and I am hoping that I can get the rest off in the next coming year. Think about the 100 you lost and not gained back again. I am going to try the 5 Day Pouch Test starting tomorrow because I want to make sure that I am listening to my pouch and real hunger. Just google 5 Day pouch test and you will find the instructions. It may help and it may not but I am willing to give it a shot to kick start my weightloss again.

What about your Dallas Cowboys...not so good year. I can't talk because my Patriots are not fairing so well either. We will see! We have the Genius Belechick on our team....

Keep your chin up...things will get going again....I think that you might need a fill.

Cindy

Hey you two!! We missed you guys! We're all in the same boat. It makes sense that our weight loss is slowing down. I think we were able to rely on the band a lot in the beginning but now we have to put in more effort. We can still get this done but we have to work harder and keep coming here for support. Let's try to stay focused and not lose sight of what we've accomplished so far. You each lost over 100 pounds which is awesome! Wish I could say that!

Good to hear from you Craig.

I see a common theme for the November Nymphs. Most of us are up and down the same few pounds for awhile now, so it must be kind of normal for this to happen at this stage.

I think the band stats are against some of us ever making goal as I think they say that the "average" person ends up with 60% of their excess weight off. So some will do better and some worse but many will end up at that 60%. Maybe it justs get too hard or maybe we just settle for the 60%. We get compliments, we feel better and maybe we just give in to that.

I'm not ready to give up yet, even without my band, and my goal is to get to and settle in the mid 160's ( even though I want more than that, I'm not sure it's realistic without a band).

At some point, I just want to stop with the feeling that I still want/need to lose more. I want to live a life of maintenance and be happy not to always be worried that I have to lose more weight.

I hope the fill in TX helps you get a jump start again Craig, but over 100 pounds gone is amazing.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
