Bondgirl,

I was banded the same day - They had me walk 5 minutes the first hour and then add a minute every hour until I got up to 30 minutes. She also told me to sit on the toilet or a chair and bend over as far as I can slowly and then sit up - repeat over and over. Then to work up to bending from the waist from a standing position. It seems to be helping a lot. Also, they told me to take really deep breaths occassionally.

How is your pain? Mine was worse than expected, and I am still taking my meds every four hours. I am looking forward to the 10pm dose to put me out for the night!!

Hope you start feeling better!

I've heard others say gas x works, and have read to keep moving as much as possible. Congrats on being banded! Hope you are feeling better soon with the gas pain.

I was banded on the 30th as well. I'm gassy too. Had a hard time burping, and I feel really full. I did get some Gas X and as tasteles as it sounds - I was thrilled when I farted - at least some was going out the other direction.

I'm starting to bloat, and I cannot even imagine getting down the quanities of Clear liquids that I am supposed to.

I guess I didn't anticipate feeling so cruddy.

I was wondering about the liquid thing - I have had 40oz of liquid and I am sooooo bloated!! I think I am done with my liquids for the day as hard as I am trying to get down the 64oz they recommended.

Anything that increases gastric motility, will help expell the gas. Walking and fluids, plus something like Gas X. Still after doing all these things, I'm still bloated. I think it must be just par for the course.

Narcotics slow down gastric motility - but I need those, so I think I'll just have to deal with it for awhile.

My doc sais liquids for a month - what about yours?

Clear Liquids for the first week, except I can add a Protein drink after day three. Then full liquids week two and three and then mushies week 4. After that start adding real food.

So, mostly liquids for the first month.

How about you?

Me - liquids for one week. Second week add Proteins and Vitamins. 4th week mushy foods, and then after that real food. I have my magic bullet all ready to begin.

I am looking down at my stomach and it is so massively bloated with gas!

<hijack...hey Ashley!!>

Work up to your 64 ounces, don't feel like you have to drink ALL of that so soon...it's a goal, you will get there, just work on it. The bloat will subside, I promise. And the gas will get better. Try a heating pad on your upper back, too, if you are having the shoulder pain. Just walk, sip and wait it out. It will get better, don't think that day 2 is like day 1, or that day 3 will be like day 5. It's different each day and gets better and better. Listen to your body, go with the flow. Yay!!!

Congratulations Angie!!!

Oh! and Soonergirl and My o My!!

Okay, so they pump a TON of liquids into you in the hospital so you will feel TERRIBLY bloated for a couple days as that liquid comes off. Also, WALK WALK WALK. It's awesome for the gas. The nurses said when you start burping that means "it's starting". I cannot recommend walking enough. I never had the shoulder pain, not one bit, because I walked so much.

Gas X is essential. Use it A LOT. Use it more than the box recommends. Use it before you eat (you may also be taking in air when you sip) every time.

It WILL get better! I promise! I'm a week out and it feels SO much better!

I was told that it takes about 3 weeks for the gas to completely leave the system. The main pain is supposed to subside after a week or so. (I am looking forward to that)

I have been using a wheat bag heat pad on my shoulder for the pain there and that seems to help quite a bit.

Welcome to the club!

i have never been so happy to fart in all my life. So far no shoulder pain, but the muscle pain is pretty harsh. I've cut a medication I usually take into 1/4th's but I was still worried it would block me so I only took half of it. When I had it crushed I threw it up - so that's not an option - but it must be taken. Perhaps I'll work on it throughout the day.

I think I'm starting to get an idea of the feeling of fullness that people talked about. Knowing when to stop, knowing when they are full. But I'm not there yet, It seems like it only takes a sip of Water - and I'm just over the top - I'm full. Is that normal?

A friend had this surgery and she said she had no restriction - how is that possible - is all this restriction just swelling that will abate with time?

Tell me about it. farting has never felt so good in my life! :D It feels so much better now that I can. :) Totally aweful to talk about but my god it hurt like hell until I passed it. I was up pacing until 4am trying to let it out. It finally came and I was able to get some rest.

I dont feel much restriction right now, but I am sure it will come. My boost shakes have never tasted so good. But my husband was cooking Breakfast for my three girls and I got a bit sick even smelling it. YUK! I guess thats a good thing. I am feeling pretty good today. Keep your fingers crossed it stays this way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
