This website is totally helpful. It's great to see that so many people know and trust in Dr.Kuri. I'm still thinkin about the surgery date. I guess I'm just a little scared of all the complications. Does anyone have any suggested sites that would help me make a more informed decision?

My paperwork was received by my insurance company (Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey) on September 24th. I think I called them at least 3 times a week since then. It has been a frustrating process, but they called me today to say I was approved! I think they were sick of me calling and complaining to them. I am so excited. I had originally set a tentative surgery date with my surgeon for December 1st, so hopefully all goes well. I am thrilled, but nervous about Christmas. I can easily blow off eating around family. I just worry about Christmas parties with friends, co-workers, etc. where there is a lot of drinking involved. I will deal with that when the time comes - I am so excited!!! Good luck to everyone. I am excited to be a part of this group!!

Looks like I'm going to be 1/09 after all. Still plenty of time to heal before the cruise.

I'm soooo excited it seems like I've to wait forever..Me and the hubby finally scraped up the money to prepay Dr.Debarros scince he's out of network with BCBS....

but he's sooo worth it!:) God has blessed my life in so many way's ....I was starting to get a little worried because as of January my BCBS plan will no longer cover any WLS . So I'm gettin in just in the nick of time :Dancing_sorry:

My fingers are crossed for you! Could you cross them for me as well??? My paperwork was faxed off to Anthem BC this Wednesday and I'm so anxious for approval. Was really hoping to hear from someone today as I've read so many posts for people who were approved the next day! I'm praying for a Dec 16th surgery date.

Good luck to us both!!!

Hi, I am new to this site.

I am scheduled for surgery on 12/18/08 and im very nervous and scared.

I can totally relate. I just got my surgery date today and it is December 1st! It seems like I've been waiting forever, and then when I got the call today, I was pretty shocked that it's only 16 days away! Luckily, my BC/BS is covering it and I'm going to Dr. Brient in Gainesville, FL. I'm nervous and scared as well!! Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
