I am nervous as heck, but I am going to Mexico the week of Thanksgiving...so scary! anyone got advise? I have started my Journey. Due to lack of insurance (self employed), I will be going to Mexico for my LapBand surgery. I am scared. But I have no other choice( I feel ). AND it looks like I will be going on my own, NO LESS. But this is so worth it. I have tentatively scheduled my surgery for the week of Thanksgiving. I am using Dr Mario Alberto Almanza Reyes, Mexicoweightlosssurgery.com or alighterme.com. Does anyone have any reviews or comments about this company before I put in my deposit? I am to fly into San Diego, Ca and they will take me across the border to Tijuana. Anyone?

My surgery is scheduled for November 11th and I am ecstatic! I had my pre-op appointment with my surgeon today and I also met with my nutritionist. I will be starting my pre-op diet tomorrow. I can't wait to live my life again. I'm ready for a brand new start! Good luck to all. :tongue2:

Me, I'm November 5th. Just two weeks away and I will be in bandland. :tongue2: It took a long time to get to this point. But after a denial by ins. company, finally approved this past Friday. Yay Maggie:shades_smile:

So the Optifast isn't good? I don't have to have that. I have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 wks prior to my surgery. I start that this Thursday, so we'll see how that goes! They call it clear liquid diet, but we can have some v-8 juices...and Jello, etc. Plus, I do have to drink a Protein Drink (3 times a day)also, but from what I've heard, it tastes pretty good. Let's hope so!!

Good luck with it. I have to take vanilla Optifast twice daily with Protein and veges for night time meal. I can have small amounts of cheese and/or ham to get me through the hunger pains if required.

This is my first post to this site, but I love reading everything y'all talk about. I am scheduled to be banded on November 24th, just in time to avoid the Thanksgiving pounds I would normally put on!!:grouphug:

I don't know why, but I am trying to diet now to get on the right track but I can't stick to it for anything. I have this illusion that once I get banded everything will just fall into place, I know better but I just keep picturing that in mind. Any suggestions on how to get on the right track?

Thanks!!

My surgery date is scheduled for November 10th!

I am sooo nervous like the rest of you. I went to see my nutritionalist today for my preop diet instructions and she has me drinking the carnation instant breakfast no sugar added with added Protein 4 times a day. She also told me if I have to eat something, I can have a chicken breast or a small salad (no carby veggies though). Does this sound similar to you guys?

I figure I have a few more days before I am 2 weeks out from surgery so of course I am trying to eat like I am an inmate on his last day on deathrow lol. I am not overstuffing myself, just grazing around rofl.

Sunset:thumbup:

My surgery date is November 7th! I started this entire process in February 2008 so it's been a long time coming. This Friday, October 24th I start my two week liquid diet. Congrats to everyone and I am glad I am finally starting the rest of my life!!!

Got my date, (11/17) and freaked...I am really scared about the whole foreign object in my body thing and even though it's slight, the possibility of the band slipping and then of course, what if I blow this opportunity. I am having a hard time being excited.

Wish all of you with upcoming band dates the very best of luck

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
