Good Morning Ladies,

It's cold here, I am freezing to death. It will warm up soon so I don't want to turn on the heat. lol

We went and voted this morning, wow there were lots of people there voting. They are voting in groves here. If you haven't voted be sure to do so!

I am struggling with my weight also, actually have gained some in the last few months. I need to get back to the program and start losing again. Too many parties, birthdays etc going on at work and home. Tonight is a wedding so again more drinks/eats that I shouldn't do. I feel the extra weight so I know it's there too! lol then the holidays are right around the corner too! I am almost all healed up, so maybe I will be able to move this body and lose a little again.

I have to get started on the house and get some things done today so I won't have to do it all tomorrow.

Catch you all later!

Chat here is sooooo stinking slow! It was terrible tonight.

So made dinner, doing laundry while DH snores. Go figure! Cripe DH and DS didn't even bother to put anything away. Why is it when DH cooks I have to clean up and when I cook I have to clean up? lol Yeap I'm complaining hahaha I'll get over it though...kinda have to huh? lol That's ok....I'll stay in the house and snore when he has to cut the lawn or shovel lol

Evenin' everybody!

Darcy, I feel your pain! can't tell you how many time I've lost some really long posts!!!

Donna, good to hear from you!!! How are you doing? We need to get together again. To answer your question: Observations? Yeah, I like the taste of food too much! Regrets? Not so much. I have some slime "episodes", but thats because I still think I can take a regular sized bite!!! Sometimes I get ravenous right after I hit the door home from work! Been doin' great all day at work, but just let me get home and I feel like I have to have a nibble of everything!!! UGH!

Betty, how are you feeling now? all back to normal? ...or at least back to ordinary! Hee hee:)

Sherry, I'm so sorry you're going through all this mess with the heavy duty reflux issues. I hope a solution for you is right around the corner and easy! I bet it really IS cold up there where you are!!! Today we had an almost 30 degree drop, after a cold front came through. Both yesterday and today, I thought my head would split open! I get bad Migraines (that was a bit redundant! LOL) whenever the weather had a drastic change.

Jessica, The beach pic is great!! I wish I had done as well as you did! I think I have a bunch of reasons why I didn't...trouble is, the line between reasons and excuses can be very blurry at times!

Pat, how was the charity golf tournament? Did they have you sellin' the blue balls again? lol Looked like it was gonna be a really wet one, then things seemed to clear off. Hope lots of money was raised for op-smile. BTW, did your DH go back to FLA today?

Well, so far I've been able to deal with this site tonight. I popped in yesterday, only to find that Donna and I had bee give some sort of weird avatar that looked like a green weeble! at least that's gone! The site sure has been pokey.

See y'all later!

Hey y'all,

Thought I better check in before the monkeys head my way!

All is going well here----been out in the shop helping DH put up his insulation. It is so much easier with 2 people, one measuring the insulation and cutting it, and the other stapling it up. We tag team really well after all these years!

We have actually had a warm front move in, keeping our daytime temps up into the low 70's and the nights in the low 40's. Which I will take anytime compared to the week before our lows were already in the low 20's! We went and got a load of wood in Colorado the end of last week, and it was SOOOOO cold! We stopped in on our way home---several hours after we began at 6 AM, to get a hot cup of cappucino for me and coffee for Rick, and the cashier said it was 15 degrees out----so it must have been right about zero when we began....no damn wonder I was cold!! We joke that the firewood warms you up lots of times, when you cut it, when you load it, when you unload it and stack it, when you carry it in to the house from the woodshed, and then finally when you burn it! We got 3 cords the other day, one for my folks and 2 for ourselves, my Dad was with us. He may be 75 but the man can work circles around me!

Thinking I might look into a fill-----I am fighting to keep the weight down, it is something I have to think about now, and I had been to a point of not being hungry ever, so I simply did not think about it, and I liked that! Going to see how maintaining goes for another week or so, then schedule it I believe. Right now I have been holding my breath, my entire family has had a virus, dealing with nausea and diarrhea-------NOT something I want!!!

I have taken some wonderful rides while the weather has been so nice---both on the bike, as well as horseback. There is actually very little time that the weather is SO perfect for horseback----was not too hot, was not too cold, and I could have stayed out forever!!! Normally the old adage of the horse speeding up the closer you get to the barn holds VERY true---but even my horse seemed to want to stay longer! She tossed her head and quivered her nostrils, I'd swear she was smiling! I call her Crazy Horse......her name is Suede, she is a buckskin, and beautiful....Suede kinda melted into Swayze (as in Patrick---but REALLY just a shortened Suede sound) and I would always tell her I was Crazy for Swayze-----and now for years she has just been Crazy Horse. We also have one I call Doo....and her name is Serendipity!!! Which led to Dippety-Doo.....and thus Doo.

Aren't y'all glad I don't name you!!??

Back to the weather, they say it is going to hold through Halloween. Which is going to be so nice for the kids--warm weather, and the time has not changed yet, so they will have some time to trick or treat, and it is on a Friday! So the teachers do not have to deal with sugar highs/crashes the next day!

My granddaughter is going as Ariel, the Little Mermaid, red wig and all, it is tooo cute! And my grandson is a biker, complete with Do-Rag, leather jacket, little James Dean looking jeans, black boots, and tattoos!!!

Having run a daycare for 20+ years, I have lots of kids who are now bringing their kids to my house to trick or treat. As well as our own kids who bring theirs to our neighborhood, and hang out as well. Add to that friends who live in the country, who come to hang out, and we have a housefull!!!!

I am putting on the stock pot full of chili. Going to have cornbread, hot dogs, and fritos....as well as all the fixings, they can have whatever they want from a bowl of chili, to a chili dog, or frito pie. Kinsey and I are baking cupcakes and Cookies for everyone....and we keep hot coffee going, and the kettle full of hot Water for chocolate. Everyone knows it is here, and they know this is a safe bathroom stop, it gets pretty chaotic, but soooo much fun!!! I do not dress up....I have a Halloween shirt but it is too big!!! YAY!!! So....nothing special for me to wear this year! Any of you dressing up???

Better get things put away and the coffee pot ready for morning---then it is time to hit the shower and make sure the insulation is all washed off.

Take care everyone!!! Big hugs!!!

Kat

Good Morning Y'all!

I was cold here yesterday, and last night I actually turned on the heat for the night. I will get to turn it off again as it is warming back up again. I hate cold weather as you all know!

We block the street off BBQ and have adult beverages while the kids come up and trick or treat. It saves them lots of steps of going to each door and we enjoy the evening as well. It's a lot of fun, and we look forward to it each year.

I am pretty much healed up now, but I will probably never be normal! lol

I am happy with the results and get lots of compliments on the weight I lost. lol I actually gained some so it is just the boob job that makes you look thinner.

I need to get back to basics with the eating, I have a fill and still eat and drink all the wrong stuff. I ate Mexican 3 days and gained 5 pounds. Yikes! It just worked out that way, it wasn't planned to go 3 times.

I don't have time to address everyone this morning, I have to get dressed and out the door. Like Kat, I didn't want the monkeys after me!

I wish I could just go back and lounge around the day away, but can't do that.

Catch you all later!

Watch out for the Halloween candy! It will get you every time!

ugh it seems that weight is a problem for most of the ladies here on the NJ thread :-( mine is not going up but its not going down either I am stuck at 191-193 for the past few months. I know I did it to myself for a while because I was picking on the wrong things but I have finally gotten myself back together or at least I hope I am back. So hopefully the scale will be my friend next time I step on it. I know I will not hit my 1 year goal but I am still pretty happy with where I am at right now. I know I will hit that goal soon and then it will be time to set a new one. I go back for my 1 year follow up next month so I will ask my doctor what weight he thinks I should be at....we never discussed that. I am also going to ask him where my damn port is beause I still cant find it - not that I really search for it.

Evening Ladies..

Diane, how nice of you to stop by, hahaha. Yes, hubby is in Orlando, yahoo, I'm enjoying quiet time, haven't left the house today :))

Betty, Sherry, Kat, I'm trying to decide if I'm going to wait until after my upcoming trip to Mexico and my Dec/Jan trip to go for a fill, chit by then I will probably have gained 10 lbs, my close still fit the same, but I feel so thick, does that make sense?

Darcy we'll have to meet for a Scrabble game :).

Donna, Diane, I'm going to be available for cocktails tomorrow night, that would be Wednesday, here in VA, LOL.

Diane the Operation Smile was great, the rain held off until the end, at least it was warmish and not a freezing rain like last night was. I found out this am my heat was not working in my bedroom, it was 66 freakin degrees. I called the hvac guy, of course, since I have a 10 year warranty, that's 6 years old, they couldn't work me in until tomorrow, hum, guess they already spent the other money.

Yep, getting cabin fever, I think I'm going to run out to Wawa's and fetch a custom made salad. I have been pretty good today, had two Protein Shakes, aren't ya proud of me!

Later girlfriend!

NJW, are you near Atlantic City, now there's a meeting place.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
