Good Morning Y'all!

It's cold here too. We had a cold front move in and we are in for some cool weather. It won't be too bad during the day, but really cold at night. I hate cold weather!

Pat glad you are back, we missed you! I know you had a great time so I won't even say anything about that. lol

Sherry - Hope you can get some answers soon. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I don't have much time this morning. I am going with the new boss to take some people from another company out for lunch today, so I want to spend a little extra time fixing myself up for it. lol I want to make a good impression. Or, at least try!

Has anyone got their voting done yet? I think we will go on Saturday. We are still in early voting here and I don't want to have to stand in long lines when it gets further along. I am not much on standing around waiting.

Good morning to the rest of you gals, I'll catch up with y'all later!

Early voting? We can't do that here.

I don't know what's going to happen with this band of mine....I have to call next Tuesday to see if I can get in there. Unfortunately no appointments can be booked earlier than I have so I have to try calling every week and hope someone cancels. THEN I'm going to test another fill...if that fill brings reflux again...I think I'm done  Keeping my fingers crossed that's not the case. This really stinks and I'm nervous about it but, what can I do really. Just keep my chin up and TRY to keep more weight from coming back. I was thinking about the sleeve procedure but, not sure if that will happen. I don't think insurance will pay for another bariatric surgery and I just don't have the cash to pay for it myself. Things are pretty tight here now.....so much so that it's pretty scarey and I"m sure that stress isn't helping but again...one day at a time

Betty it will be nice to see pics :cool2: I bet you look awesome.

Did I tell ya'll I went on a Witch Ride sunday? Charity ride for MDA and man oh man I was frozen like a popsicle! My thighs were so freaking red that they tingled for hours, were still cold after a hot shower and it took 2 days to get the chill out of my bones. burrrrrrrrrrrrrr It's only 34 degrees here right now (8:20pm) and it's suppose to go down to 20 tonight!!!! burrrrrr I already have my winter jammies on, with a winter bathrobe and winter sock. Thats N.E. for ya :w00t: Beautiful colors up here right now though

Well, gotta go get my laundry out of the dryer. Hope you're all doing well and shrinking! Hugs!

I go in there once in a while to make sure things are going ok. Yesterday Alex had to work on it and I believe why this website/forum was reallllllllly slllloooowwwww.

Just peeking in now and it seems to be running at the right speed. Whew! Thank goodness because it's aggrevating lol

Good morning ladies!

First, Sherry, thank you so much for what you do for MDA. I have Muscular Dystrophy, along with alot of family members, and we always love it when people get involved. Thank you again!

So I am so excited, I am officially down 20 pounds!!! I am so happy I got this fill.

I will tell you, just from the fill, it is so different than before.

So how is everyone else? Any plans for the weekend?

Michaele - The witch ride was actually the 2nd charity ride we did this year. They had one during the summer too from another location. Its amazing when you see so many bikes out all together and there are bikes for miles and miles during the rides. I'm not brave enough to ride my own during one yet so I just hop on my hubby's.

Jess - Did you find the chat room?

Plans for the weekend....I don't have any specific plans which is cool for me. If DH goes on a ride I'll probably up in a few hours or work. Too dang cold to go for a ride for me especially after freezin on the bike last weekend. I did order chaps through ebay...damn things are kinda snug. Stupid "made in china" sizing regardless of what the measurements say. That part drives me nuts. They weren't expensive thank goodness but, I'm going to have to order another pair but I think this time I'll go to a shop and pay the regular price. At least I'll know they freaking fit. Maybe someday I'll fit into these others...if I ever get this band working right again that is

Good morning, ladies! You all look and sound wonderful! Betty, I sure wish we could see pics of that fabulous new body! I just know you look beautiful.

Sherry- I'm intrigued with the witch ride... what exactly is it? It sounds like fun and cold as a witches' tit!

Jessica, I love your beach picture... you must be getting so close to goal. That is wonderful and you look great!

Kat- are you feeling back to normal yet? You've been through so much I know it must take awhile.

Diane - I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. I've been to Nassau and wasn't so impressed either. Did you stay at the Atlantis? I noticed you're about a year from your surgery. Any regrets or observations?

Pat- were the pics from Ft. Lauderdale from your condo? It looks beautiful. There is so much to do in that area of Florida. I hope you'll invite me when you and Diane have your next cocktail hour. I usually get home from work between 5:30 and 6, except for Thursday nights when I have class.

I'm envious of all of you that get to check your e mail and the site at work. I am totally blocked! I can only check my work e mail and approved sites from the school district.

Have a great weekend!

Donna

Hi Donna, The witch ride is a motorcycle charity ride that went approximately 30 miles or more. We ended up in Salem Massachusetts Hence calling it the witch ride plus it's always in October. Cold isn't the word for it!!! Freeeeezing is more like it haha. Each rider pays $30 including the passengers. So they say there were approximately 3-4thousand bikes. So figure 3500 x $30 = $105K raised to go towards MDA. Amazing! I have to say I think bikers are the biggest charity folks around...most of them anyway. There are so many charity runs and we usually do at least 4-5 a year. We love the Ronald McDonald house run, 2 MDA runs, a Cancer Run and Toys for tots. Sometimes we do even more than that...just depends on the weather and if we have plans or not. It's alot of fun really.

How is everyone doing? Man it sure is getting cold. Might do some baking tonight myself. Pillsbury had a new lower sugar cake mix and frosting made with splenda I might try. I usually bake for friends at work during the holidays so it will be nice if the calories can be cut back with this. We'll see how it tastes and I'll let you know. I'm also searching around my many internet recipe websites for something different...although the taco Soup is really calling my name and my cold bones hahaha. Made Fish Chowder last weekend...it was yummy and lots of good Protein. SO EASY PEASY to make too!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
