Getting re-banded... this journey is full of surprises

Recommended Posts

I do like my Dr. It's a small office so I never have issues getting appointments and getting in touch with the office staff. NYU is a huge practice, which makes it difficult to get in touch with them.

Why would getting drunk bring on dry heaving? I'm not much of a drinker, so maybe I'm missing something. Would it be because all the alcohol made you vomit?

I've only ever had 2 PBs (or what I consider to be PBs). The second one was the worse of the two and it happened a week after I found out about the leak in my band. So I had absolutely NO restriction, and then I have my 2nd pb ever. I think because I had no fill that I had no restriction and I must have been a little careless in my chewing because I got stuck and I spent the entire day trying to get it up. In between all the attempt at unstucking myself (which just made me even more swollen) I was trying to calm the swelling by sipping warm tea, but that would just come up. I got to the point where nothing would go down. I waited until the evening and took some liquid motrin (which took a while to go down) and I was able to get some Water down at night (thankfully).

Moral of the story- even with no restriction, if you don't chew, you'll be reminded that the band is still there. That's coming from someone who is extremely careful with chewing (to which I credit only having 2 pbs in 8.5 months)

Its just so weird that several January people have had some problem or other in the 9th month after surgery, I wonder if that is typical of lap band surgery?

Interesting point, Chrisann.

Now that you mention it, I had my first problem at almost nine months to leading to an inability to drink and the need for an emergency unfill, I am fine now but experienced my first bout of being really miserable. I am a January bandster as well . . . plus I don't remember hearing of too many prior complications with other people in our group.

Anyways, it is interesting to think of it that way . . . 9 months is well into the journey and the point at which our habits are solidified. I wonder if it is all just a coincidence or if there is a reason . . . maybe becoming so used to the lifestyle that we aren't so "actively" thinking about bandster rules and banding has become normal.

Does anyone have any other thoughts on this topic?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
