Ladies~Talk to me about monthly cycles after the lapband

Recommended Posts

I woke up this morning with the worst cramps I've had since a teenager, and I even have cramps in my back!!! HOLY COW!!! Did anyone else experience bad cycles after having lost some weight? :)

My cramps are more noticeable too. So are gas pains! I contribute this to the soreness my muscle walls have from the port suturing. It takes a few mos for these to heal...then you may also have very minute scar build-up which can also intense the discomfort! So I've been taking 400mg of ibuprofen during my periods.

I had gas pains that were bad last night too!!! That's ok, I'll take this since I'm getting smaller! :)

My first one after surgery was HORRIBLE!

Very painful, a ton of bloating and extremely heavy. The second was fine. I didn't take any blood thinners.

Last month I woke up in the middle of the night because of a really bad stomach cramp. That was the way my body chose to tell me "it's 3 AM and I think it's the perfect time to start your period!"

My stomach pain stayed with me for the first full day of the period, after that the pain subsides. By the 3rd day, I had no pain at all.

Prior to the surgery, i missed my period of 9 months. After I started losing weight pre-op, my period came back, now it has been normal ever since!

I remember when my cycle used to come every 35 days! Now it's every 26-28 days!!! Since I am done having kids, and have had a tubal, I could really live without the monthly hassle!

I had my first less than a week after surgery. I seem to be a little of the abnormal. I noticed it was lighter, and lasted only about half length it usually did. We will wait and see what happens this month

I had mine less than a week after surgery too! Dumb luck, I guess ... ah well. I've noticed that it's been pretty mild, and I took lortab earlier for abdominal pain and it seems to have killed the cramps. Whoo hoo.

Since I started to lose weight on the pre-op diet, I have been dealing with my TOM every two weeks !!!! ;) grrrrrrrr

Way more cramps, heavier and longer than anything I have had before too.

I went to my doctor for some help, birth control pills or something to help me out here. I am just waiting for the results of the bloodwork to come back to see what is going on with me. It may be that there is a rise in estrogen when we lose weight, as it is strored in the fat ...

It's great to lose the weight, but it would be nice to do something about this little side effect !!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
