Thanks Frangi. The biggest Q for me right now is what to do if my TOM isn't over. I think it will be mostly over but not 100%. Sucks right? Also, I am probably as it turns out in the hospital for 2 days. I can ask my sister to post an update if she can but I don't think there is wireless in the hospital. I will certainly post something when I get home.

Hi Karen,

Good luck tomorrow!!!

I had my TOM during both of my surgeries. The first time was really bad because my (five) fibroid tumors (which were also removed during Round 1) caused heavy, heavy bleeding. Having my TOM really didn't seem to cause any major problems -- it was just one more (very minor) thing I dealt with during the recovery process. Hope this helps!!!

Can't wait to hear back that you rocked your surgery and are on the road to recovery!!!! Sending quick healing vibes your way!!!!

Thanks so much for responding to the TOM question. It will be almost over but it was stressing me out anyway. I guess the surgeons are used to blood!

HI guys a quick check in because I am pretty tired still. 12-15lbs of skin was removed (I was suprised by that). I feel pretty ok with the percoset and the pain pump (miracle device). I ended up spending a bit more time in the hospital because they wanted to check on some bleeding. I am finding the drains gross and the binder annoying. Other than that I feel pretty much ok. I will write more about my experience when I have some more energy later.

I'm glad to hear you are home and doing well. Get plenty of rest. Your drains will be out before you know it and you'll have a little more energy each day. Keep us posted when you're up to it.

SO I am feeling pretty good. I am tired easily so I have been sleeping on and off. The percoset makes me tired. I hate the hospital so that was killing me - plus all the IVs etc make it impossible to sleep. Now that I am home I feel ok. My surgeon was really excited about my results and I did get a peek when they were changing the gauze under my binder - I cant't believe that is me! Also I have no behind - really there is nothing there - apparently that is where I had the most excess skin. Totally weird feeling not to have anything to tuck up under me when I sit!

Yesterday I tried to change the gauze myself (some of my drains are leaking) and I literally almost passed out when I opened my binder - anyone have that happen? I didn't feel pain I just almost blacked out.

I have absolutely no appetite but need to eat with the meds so am trying to do that.

Anyway that is my status update!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
