I'm feeling kinda blue

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Dec. 31, 2007 and have lost over 90 lbs. I have been on such a high losing all this weight. Now the summers over, the kids are heading back to school and my seasonal depression is kicking in worse than ever. All I want to do is have my band loosened so I can eat my way through this horrible depression. I have an appointment today with my Dr. to possibly get some anti depressants but I was wondering if anyone else felt depressed once they lost all thier weight and what they did about it.

THANKS FOR READING MY RANT!!!

I have been moody, not depressed.

However, I have been on anti-depressants, before the band was placed. I still take them.

I have had no weight gain, no side effects and they help!

Don't give up. You have come amazingly far!!!

It doesn't sound like your depression is related to your band, nor losing your weight. It sounds like eating may have been a comfort for you in dealing with depression in the past. Currently with your band, your probably not able to "eat through your misery" which is a good thing. Time to deal with it in a different way. If seasonal depression is an ongoing problem (I've had that) antidepressants work wonders! along with some other things like being out in the sun more, daylight, moderate exercise outside. (not eating) When I lived in the midwest, the days were very very short and I found myself quite depressed in October. The 3rd year, my Dr. caught the pattern and said next year we'll start you on an antidepressent in late August and probably avoid it all together. It worked! You'll get through this, but loosening your band isn't your answer. Look a little harder and you'll find what is right for you.

Hi-

I haven't had the band surgery...yet. But I did have a mild form of seasonal affective disorder since I was a teen and now I am almost 40. I started taking VitaminD two years ago and it has made a huge difference! Talk to your dr. about how much would be good for you. The try it. Good luck. Great weight loss success!

I picked up a new hobby.. photography. I've been doing photoshoots with my friends and playing around with them in picnik.com and putting them on my myspace and just having loads of fun with them. It keeps me occupied and happy. It was something I had always wanted to do, so perhaps there is something like that you could do...

When motivation wanes and weight loss becomes less and less a driving factor in your life it is easy to feel a little blue. Exercise does absolutely wonders for improving mood. I highly recommend it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
