Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Recommended Posts

Anyone else having back pain? OMG! It is killing me. What gives?

Maybe that's where you're feeling the gas pain????

Well I am in the hospital with dehydration and nausea and vomiting. It feels like my insides are being ripped out

Have they given you something IV to stop the nausea/vomiting? Hopefully they have and you're feeling better with the IV fluids. I'm sorry.

I actually slept through the night last night. Took lortab before going to sleep and didn't take anything else until this morning. I'm pretty sore, but trying tylenol again. This is day 5, it has to start getting better right? right???? I hope. Gee whiz! The gas pain is killing me, but its not constant. My scale is cheap/crappy so I'm not sure, but think I'm down 15 lbs since the preop diet. Yay. I haven't tried on any real clothes. Too sore. Just checking in. Hope everyone has a restful/healing day. Hugs! Ambra

This is day 5, it has to start getting better right? right????

I felt worse on day 5 than I did on surgery day. Now on day 8, I feel pretty good. I still have gas discomfort in my shoulder. Isn't that odd that you can feel gas pain in your shoulder!?!?!

:girl_hug::w00t: to everyone. I hope everyone feels better soon.

Well I am in the hospital with dehydration and nausea and vomiting. It feels like my insides are being ripped out

The exact same thing happened to me. I could not drink even a sip of Water on my 3rd and 4th days after the surgery and spent the 5th day in ER getting IV fluids. Then the surgeon unfilled some of the liquid and that resolved it...

The only question I had - was it so necessary to put in saline to the band right at the surgery time? Why wouldn't one be allowed time to recover first?

Oh well, this is all 5 day old story -- and I feel oh so much better now, soreness is gone, no pains.

Do not worry, you will get better soon. But be angry at the surgeon - there is really no reason for this thing to be happening.

And best wishes to all of us.

I was banded on 9/24 and today I feel the most normal I have felt since surgery. Most of the gas is starting to subside and I can sleep on my stomach and both sides. Ahhhh life is good! On the down side I am hungry once again. I think maybe all that gas makes you feel full, so I guess in a sick way the gas is our friend! I hope everyone continues to feel better, and yes it does get better. Good luck to all Tamara

I am truly beginning to think you are right. I have been so hungry the last couple of days. I am glad that you are feeling better.

I wasn't sure where to post but I am happy to annouche that I am officially a Bandster as of September 30. Surgery went well except that being I'm such a short person, the surgeon had a hard time manuevering in my belly. I'm starting to feel better today, day 4, off pain meds and getting Hungry. Drinking the Water is hard for me because I have never been much of a drinker except for diet Coke, which I know I can't have any more. Congratulations to all the rest of you September Samurai's. Simon

Congratulations on your recent banding Simon! This is as good a place as any to share your news. Most all of us here were banded in September, so it is a good place to share and compare notes and ask questions. Good luck on you journey. Tamara

Congrats Simon. I am glad that you are doing well after your surgery. I can truly understand the water thing. I don't like it myself. I wasn't a soda drinker either, so I am surprised that I didn't stay dehydrated. I hope that you and I both can do better about the water. Keep us posted on your journey.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
