Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Recommended Posts

Slim in TN, I'm from Chattavegas! i've lived in CO for a year... what part of town do you live in..? I used to live in St. Elmo, near downtown... I miss the leaves turning this time of year... sigh... we would always go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge to go see the leaves and the mountains! So pretty right now i bet! :)

It is always nice to see that someone is familiar with this area. I live in East Ridge. How did you go from Chattanooga to Colorado?

Slim-n-tn,

I'm from Smyrna, TN. All the in-laws live in Soddy Daisy and around that area. The drive from Smyrna to Chattanooga is always such a beautiful drive especially in the fall.

I wondered, when I first saw you were from TN, where exactly you were. My best friend lived in Soddy. It is so nice during the fall. I am just hoping that we actually HAVE a fall this year. We seem to be skipping seasons. I don't think I have ever been to Smyrna. Where is it?

I was banded 9/29, outpatient and home by 5pm. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I've been pretty sore up under my ribcage and breastbone. Seems like there is more gas pain every day. Shouldn't it be getting better? I did take a shower and go for a short walk yesterday. I feel so wiped out after being up for more then 20 minutes. I know it will get better, but I'm getting ancy just laying around. Don't want to push it. And I'm so thankful that I don't feel hungry!!!!! Congrats to all of us!!!!!

Hey. I hope that you are feeling better today. I have to admit that I didn't even get gas pains until day 5. I don't know how or why that is. You want to make sure that you are at least getting in your fluids so that you don't get dehydrated. I am sure that I have posted that before, but I don't want you to get sick. Everyday, it will get a little better (or at least, that is what I keep telling myself:tongue:). Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Slim-n-TN: Smyrna is Southeast of Nashville. We've lived here about 9 years now. Boy how time flys. My DH is from Chattanooga. Maybe one day we will move there.

Ambraberger - As far as the gas, I think it took me a full week to feel "normal" again. It was strange, I had most of it in my shoulder but I knew it was air because as I rubbed my shoulder I could hear/feel it move. Weird. Everyday you will feel a little better though and definitely take it easy in the beginning.

Anyone else having back pain? OMG! It is killing me. What gives?

I haven't noticed back pain yet. Is it constant?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
