Finally Banded :)

Recommended Posts

I'm home after staying the night in the hospital. I had a haital hernia. Gosh I hurt. Gas pains and one of the incisions hurts too. I constantly feel I have to cough but can't because it hurts to bad. I can feel stuff stuck in my throat too

But I've been walking, slowly but surely and I find it very hard to get in almost a gallon of water... I don't think I've succeeded in doing that yet. Hopefully soon though.

I'm just glad it's over and done with.

Hi JDsGirl...

I got banded on the 18th of August and also had my haital hernia repaired... I stayed in the hospital over night and was released after eating two mushy meals.... Coughing is difficult but it does get easier... Put a pillow on your belly when you need to cough and press it into you... it does help...

I also was having problems with the water... Oh god the damn liquid... I started to feel like I was drowning... Well I find it is much easier if I get at least 24oz of Fluid in me before my first meal... and then of course wait the proper amount of time before eating and then just repeat for each meal.... and then if I need a few extra oz... by the end of the day I have sf ices as a treat... yummy flavors and they count for about 1.75 oz each so I have at least 2...

Congratulations on being banded!!!!! I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain right now, but I'm sure it will all pass quickly. In a few days you will feel like a new person.

welcome home! the Water drinking is a bear at first. i thought i was going to go insane trying to get it all in. (and this is from someone who would drink 10-12 glasses of Water a day prior to surgery.)

it does get easier. one of my mos exciting days early on was when i realized I had finished a 16oz bottle of water in under 2 hours. woot!

take it easy and rest assured -- it DOES get better.

Thank you so much everyone :banghead: I tried the suggestions and they work great. I'm so glad I was able to cough finally. Still hurts but the pillow helps alot!

I still am having a hard time with drinking though. I have a 8oz glass of Water here that fixed myself this morning and here it is 10 hours later and only 1/4 of it is gone.. *sigh* I just don't know how to do it :(

Congratulations!!! Everything will get a little better and easier each day. Don’t forget the Gas-X if you aren’t already using it. That and walking are what relieves the gas pain and the gas is a tricky son of a gun. I was banded on the 14th and wasn’t feeling the gas pain anymore this Friday and then all of a sudden it was back on Saturday afternoon but fortunately it was gone quickly….Good luck and keep the faith. J

Hi everyone,

Hey JDsGirl... glad that the pillow suggestion helped...

Well today is my 1 week anniversary with my band... and I am really feeling better... Still have the "GAS" issues at times but sooooooooooooo much less.

The Water is a bitch still but I am doing my best....

I have my first follow up on Wednesday with my surgeon. Looking forward to it.

Well keep up the great work eveyone!!

I also had a hard time in the beginning with the Water. The PA suggested adding in some crystal lite. My problem was not only desire, but taste too. I also had popscicles that helped.

Each day will get a bit better. After 3 weeks I am now just up to about 20 oz and they are fine with this. She said some people it takes a few months.

Feel better soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
