I'm thinking ahead here, when I reach my goal I'd like to get a tattoo with meaning significant to the task I've accomplished, something to mark that I did this. Have any of you done this or are you planning to do it? I'd like some ideas of what kind of artwork to get.

I think a tattoo is a wonderful idea! A tattoo with meaning. I have not considered one for this particular venture in my life but how neat it will be when you come up with something! I hope you share.

January my oldest turned 18 and I had just turned 40 <sob> We had talked long ago of getting a tattoo together, something that meant something to the both of us. We went down on his birthday and got a peace sign on our ankle ( We planned this years ago before the peace sign made such a come back) I have had many family members think we were dorks but I don't care, this is something we will have forever , something we share together.

I think it's a great idea and if you find something you get or would like to get please let us know!!!!!

I am not the only one??!! My husband thinks I'm nuts, but I have lost 50lbs, when I loose another 20, I am getting another tattoo!!! (I already have 3, but very small and in places no one sees). I think I am going to be adventurous and get a horse head silloute on my shoulder. This reperesents a part of my life that I love, riding my horses. At my heaviest, my horse would list to the side when I got on him, 50 lbs lighter, and I can get up without a problem, and I'm sure he is happier as well!! We will have to compare tattoos!!

Oh I like the peace sign, I've also thought of a butterfly or a dove, something that conveys freedom. Haven't thought of the exact right thing yet, or the best place to put it.

slgandera, what image did you get on your leg?

I'm getting one! I'll be 35 this year and I plan on looking smoking hot! LOL! I haven't quite decided what to get, but I want to do it for my b-day. It will be my first. I want it to be something meaningful and original. Keep us posted on what you all get.

Well as of now I have a total of 7 tattoos, but when I reach my goal weight i'm going to get a half sleeve with flowers and butterflies. Butterflies are so beautiful when they emerge from their coccoon and flowers are gorgeous when they blossom so I feel that it will represent exactly how I feel when I loose the weight that I want.

Hi, I have 11 Tats and I think another one is a great idea when you reach your goal!! I suggest a dragonfly with the surgery date somehow. Dragonflies stand for Change!

Good luck getting to your goal.

Kelda44~ I love the horse idea. I too have a horse that has suffered from my mounting. I quit riding about 2 years ago, I felt bad getting on him and I knew in my heart I was hurting his back. I almost sold him this spring!

When I decided to get the surgery and my husband was supporting the decision, the first thing I thought of was riding my horse again! I am so glad that I did not sell him! We are set to start riding again this fall.

I dont have a tatoo but when a read about someone putting one on their scar, I thought it would be fun to have a sunflower. The inner part of the flower would go directly over my port if possible and the stem along the rest of the scar line. Who knows I may just do it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
