Just banded-Introduction

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just got banded August 14, 2008. I am still suppose to be drinking liquids but have tried a little piece of pizza. Seemed fine, I chewed, and chewed and chewed. I welcome any comments. My incisions are really blue and I am really sore. Did anyone else have blueness and soreness. I welcome any comments and suggestions. Thanks!

BEEEEE CAREFUL! you should always follow doctors orders.

even if you chew really well, your lower stomach still has to do a lot of churning and contracting to digest it. you want your stomach to remain as still as possible so that your band can heal in its place. this time allows the stitches used to affix the band to its proper place on your stomach to heal and allows scar tissue to grow and firmly root the band in its place. by eating solid foods so soon, you may be jeopardizing your body's ability to heal the band in its place. that could potentially lead to lots of problems in the future, from slipping to erosion.

Just be careful. you should really commit yourself to following doctors orders. at least give it a few more weeks before your cheat.

Follow your doctors plan. Keep in mind you have stitches inside you and you do not want to tear them or your stomach by putting to much weight in your pouch. That is why you are on liquids. You can cause slippage or even damage to your stomach. Good luck on your weight loss.

Wow I don't want to sound holier than thou....I'm morbidly obese and definitely have eaten too much for years. But why on earth would you eat pizza so close to your surgery? If your surgeon didn't tell you what to eat, then you need to find a good support group. If you were told to follow a post-op diet, why try to circumvent it? You may need a little therapy work so the band will work for you. I know our surgeon requires people to have an appt with a therapist 4-6 weeks post op. Maybe something like that would help you. It is miserable to be hungry, but worse to damage yourself internally!

Hello, I am in Northern Indiana and have not had the surgery yet. I am about to start the shake and bar diet before surgery. I am looking for a good Protein Water to take the place of Isopure, due to it being so pricey. My surgery is scheduled for 9/8/08. Any tips for finding protein waters are welcome.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
