Ladies, Did You Get To Wear Your "Skivies" During Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Odd, I know, but I'm curious what I'll have under that gown while they are doing all this. Especially since I'm expecting aunt flo. I would really feel exposed without my bra too. Thanks!

Hi:

I believe that they want you totally nude under the hospital gown. I'm pretty sure they only uncover what needs to be uncovered. I've heard that they deal with aunt flo all the time. Just let the nurses that are prepping you for surgery know that you have your period and they'll handle it.

I'm shy too and it was tough to be naked. I don't think they even lifted my gown before I was knocked out.

Remember, they're medical people and they see it all the time.

Best wishes to you and a successful band experience.

Sue

Oh no. I was afriad you'd say that! Uggh. I wonder how they "handle it"? Not to mention, I guess your privtates are all hanging out because they'd have to live the gown to get to your stomach. Double uggh.

They don't leave anything hanging out, you will be covered with sterile drapes everywhere except where they are working. I promise you they will respect your dignity. I'm a medical professional and have never seen anyone make inappropriate comments about a patient's body or treat them in an undignified manner. I understand feeling embarrassed, but it really will be ok

I was instructed to take off both. However, the day before I started my time of the month. The nurse gave me a mesh pair of underwear and a pad to wear.

I was given a hospital gown and disposable underwear (see through)...only because I asked for them.

When I came out of Surgery my underwear was gone (most probably because of the liquids they use to clean your body and where they want extra room to operate).

At the end of the day they see thousands of naked bodies and the nurses dont know who you are personally. I am very self concious, but in hospital they are only trying to help you get better, I had the nurse check my wounds every hour and most times that would mean lifting up my gown and under that was a naked body. The nurses etc wont see you again so dont worry.

The bra is also a big no no, it causes to much restriction and they dont want anything strapped to your body if it doesnt have to be.

When you get out of the surgery, trust me you couldnt care less!

I personally prefered to be naked under my gown so nothing was restricting my body.

I was surprised when the nurse told me to put the gown on, I asked if I had to remove my underwear and she said no, I could leave them on. They were still on when I woke up from recovery too.

I was nekkid as a jaybird under the gown. But they gave me happy meds so I didn't care! lol

I am older so dont need to worry about tom, but for those of you who are younger, I would think a tampon would be enough, maybe? You are only going to be out a half hour or so. Wonder if that would work?

I'm crazy irregular so I asked my doctor in advance. They said that I'd have to be naked, but that a tampon would be absolutely fine. They said that I've have the opportunity to potty anyway before the surgery, so I'd really only have to worry about it for an hour or so.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
