Possibly getting Realize Band

Recommended Posts

I agree with the Previous poster, however, just to clarify, although there are no copays with PPO, it can be deceiving, b/c you still most likely have to meet your deductible. In my case, I have an out of pocket cost of $2500 before insurance kicks in, so although I don't have an actual "copay" it is still a load of $$. Insurance is complicated.... Good luck!

I'm on Social Security Disability. Medicare covers most. They require 6 months GP Doctor supervised diet. I gained a lot of weight during this time. 6 months turned into a year. $1,025.00 is what I handed over pre-op. Last month I got another less than $500.00 bill. I also paid a few blood works out of pocket. I stayed over night in the hospital. I found there were 3 different prices at the time of my band. Band surgery was easy for me. I had spine fusion surgery on 3/17/06. The PAC there told me the secret to successful surgery is to get active as soon as possible. This works well with band surgery. You will do well. Fix your head & hold on tight for the ride of your life. Good Luck, Hasta Pronto, George:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
