Ok- I am now 2 weeks post -op :laugh, but how come I am still experiencing alot of belching even when I drink Water? I try to drink really slow- I eat yogurt-etc and it sounds like I'm a human perculator- is this normal and what advice can you give me. I am in the mushy stage- now lost 16 pds and counting.

How wonderful that you have already lost 16 lbs, so happy for you. About the belching, all I can say is get used to it, Saturday will be my 7 month bandiversary and I constantly burp all the time. It entertains the kids...

I don't think you have to worry about harming your band with burping. Just about all of us do our fair share (and then some) of that. :(

Brrrrrrrrpppp...'scuse me...so , burping, huh? Ain't it grand?! It's my favorite part of being banded, really! I just love a good burp so I must not get out much. :(

For me, I get a little burp and that's my signal to slow down and get ready to finish eating. Few more bites is all I need. Some might call that the "soft stop" signal? It also reassures me that I have restriction, the band is there and working well.

Burping doesn't seem to pose a problem for the actual band, so you should be okay there.

Good job on your weight loss!

Burping is my "stop" sign too. If I ignore the burp, I literally hear my voice say 'that's enough now. You're done." I haven't decided to push past the voice. In mid mouthful I'll spit whatever it is out.

It will be interesting to see what I get after my first fill.

Before my band I had a horrible hiatal hernia, and I could never burp. Now when I feel one coming on, I let it rip because it feels so good, like 10 years of burp waiting to go. I can burp with the boys now. Hubby is very proud.

You guys are so funny.....Thanks for the replies. I was kinda worried because prior to my banding I was on nexium for reflux and I was told by my doctor that I didnt need it anymore once he placed my band. Also, any other suggestions for the muchy stage besides cream Soup, yogurt and applesauce.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
