Hello everyone,

I just had surgery almost 3 weeks ago. I'm eating soft foods. Some go

down better then others. I just started excercising again this weekend.

My endurance is still low, I'm working my way back up to 30 min. I've

lost about 15lbs. All in the first two weeks. This week I seem to be

just maintaing my current weight. I'm just starting to get hungry. I'm

following the diet very carfully. I can't have my first fill for 90 days.

Wish me luck staying on the diet.

Congrats, tflynn!

Tomorrow I'm 3 weeks post-opt too. I was banded on 7/15/08

Do you count calories or keep a food journal? You'd be suprised at how much that helps. What are you doing for exercize?

I'm currently eating between 800-1200 calories a day and keeping track on thedailyplate.com

For exercize I do 12,000 steps a day (at least 30 minutes of those being continous to raise my heart rate) and keep a pedometer in my pocket at all times. My surgeon says when I hit the 6 week mark I can do weights. I bought some home exercize stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for great prices and can't wait to try it all out at the 6 week mark. Even treated myself to new balance walking shoes ($33 at tjmaxx)

Melody2006,

Hey sorry I didn't reply right away, I've been on vacation. It sounds

like you off to a great start. Keep up the great work! I'm still maintaining my weight. I'll be down a few pounds and then up a few pounds. I think I need to up my workouts to an hour. Stay motivated!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
