Severe sweeling after Fill

Recommended Posts

Ok this past tuedays I went in for my 3rd fill.

I was able to drink the Water in the doc 's office with out any issue.

later that day my husband and 3 kids all came down with a stomache bug.

So by 2 am I was throwing up and felt like I was going to die.

I normally get very swollen after a fill and it take about a week to 10 days before I am able to eat solids.

But i am more swollen then usual and I think its from having a stomach virus and getting my monthly friend early(i am usually a lot more restricted during this time anyway).

So right now I am unable to drink anything cold it just comes right back up.

Warm and Hot I have no issues with.

I really do not want to have to go back and get it unfilled. But I will if this does not resolve somewhat over the weekend.

Need some advise. Should I just deal with it for the weekend sticking with Clear liquids with unflavored Protein Powder added to it.

Thank you in advance

Gee-I don't know what I would do in your case. I just had my first fill Wednesday and my stomach has hurt ever since, I was wondering if that is normal.

Hope things work out for you.

Sorry you are going through this Trish! I know it is miserable! I do think the virus made your swelling much worse. None of us like to get some of our fills taken out but on the other hand if you see no signs of improvement in the next couple of days then you really should get some relief. Getting dehydrated is also dangerous! One time I was too tight but was being too stubborn about getting some fill taken out. Eventually, I became weak from not enough nourishment and fluids and that it not the right way to go either!

Wanda, you will eventually feel better! Every time you get a fill, especially the first, you have some discomfort and soreness and sometimes increased gas all over again but it does get better. Your stomach tends to swell a little each time you get a fill. That is why they do not put it too much all at once. Be patient and go back to smushier foods and Soups until you feel better.

I agree with you Fort Bend Band. tp78 I know how you feel. When I got my first fill, which was a few days ago I was in pain and had a lot of restriction, but as the days go by I feel less and less restriction. If I was you I would wait a few more days to see if you get better and tolerate solid foods, because if you go back for an unfill they might take out more than what they should and then you will not fill much restriction.

Sounds like your got too much cc's! That happend to me and I didn't want to go back to the doctor, I ended up developing acid reflux and it was terrible. Hugh! I would have him take a little out, stay with liquids for a few days, then reintroduce solids. You may want to stay off the fills for a while until you heel. Good luck.

Going to go in today and have them do an unfill.

they only gave me .5cc at last fill so they need to take that bad boy out.

Thank you to everyone for your responses.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
