Recommended Posts

started feb 21, with 1st consultation...have had to have EGD, Gallbladder removed, psych evaluation, dietary consult, support group meetings every month, keep a 6 month food journal, 6 month exercise journal, and 6 monthly weigh ins......and finally i got the call yesterday...september 11....johnson city, tn, with dr. hodge...it seemed like it was going to take forever when i started, but having to do all this stuff monthly made it fly by....i am excited, and terrified all at the same time...i don't feel prepared for some reason....well, i would say part of it is the fact that they said it would be mid to end october, and then all of a sudden it's like, less than 3 weeks away...i am also getting a hiatal hernia repair when i have the lapband...anybody know how you feel after one of those? i have no clue...congrats to everyone on their surgery dates....

starting weight: 262

current weight: 250

my personal goal: 170

If you could, I am not artistic in the least, could you make me a banner with my name Deborah on it? I love your face, it looks so beautiful and exotic, but even if you could just add 2008. Actually I have to admit, I printed your banner to show my Psych Consult dude. And I am ashamed to admit I am going to put it on my computer at work. I love the Samurai. I need to become the Samurai and for once in my life I need to fight and win! As nice as it looks on the web, it looks fantastic in print.

Please forgive me for stealing your banner. I will let everyone know that it is your beautiful face, mine would be wrinkled and old.:) Might make a whimpy Samurai picture. Debbie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
