What does it feel like to be "stuck"?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had my band placed nov 5, 2007 but did not have my first fill until may o8. I have a 10 cc band and my doctor put in 3 cc at that time. I did not have any restriction ( I could eat EVERYTHING) . I went back on Mon, 8/11 and the doctor put in another 3 ccs. Everything went fine -no problems with swallowing liquids for 2 days and mushy soft items. BUT then I tried 1/4 piece of toast and the waves of pain I experienced at my sternum site was severe and lasted 20 minutes. since then I have had this pain 7 times with yesterday being the worse, I actually felt like vomiting. Thank the good Lord my husband is so understanding and helpful. I do chew my food to liquid consistancy. I take small bites. I know I must not being doing enough though to keep this from happening. different things set it off, one day a piece of toast, the next day an apple or bite of peas. I went back to my doctor last thursday and he said he needs to take out .5 cc and that will make all the difference. From reading other replies it sounds like my food is getting stuck. I'm wondering if this is just part of the learning curve of getting to know the band and my body and if it is - is it ok? and do people actually get to a spot where they eat small portions and don't have the pain, sliming, etc. Thanks all for reading my rambling .

I think those are excellent questions. When I get stuck, it always lasts only 5 minutes or less and feels quite horrible- like I can't breathe (though obviously I can) and have a rock stuck in my throat. I aslo feel the urge to take a big gulp of Water (BIG mistake unless you are a fan of PBing).

However, I think if you follow your doctors orders pre and post fills, you should be fine (I didn't usually the orders and that's probably why I got stuck so frequently right after my last fill - it sucked.)

Usually for me, getting up and moving really helps unlodge whatever was stuck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
