After months of prep I FINALLY had my surgery on June 24th. I have lost 24 pounds and I feel great. My only concern is that my belief was that I would only be able to consume a VERY SMALL portion of food at one time but I can eat much more than that. I am careful to keep within the dietary guidlines but I wonder if this is normal?

joyful - It is normal for you to be able to eat more at this point. Until you get your band adjusted to a good level (could take more than one fill), you're going to be able to eat more. You just don't have the restriction correct. It's tough - and honestely sucks. You're in what we call Bandster Hell. Hang in there and continue to make the right choices. You've done great so far!

Hi!!! I was banded on June 27th and I have your excat same question. I followed the liquid diet and mushies and all that stuff to a tee but now with solids I feel I can eat pretty much anything (still haven't tried bread or Pasta or lettuce or steak...I'm too afraid) and I feel I'm probably eating too much. I have lost 20 lbs. which is great but I'm scared I'm eating too much!! What do you normally eat? I normally have:

Breakfast

2 egg white omelette with cheese and salsa; or

1 slim fast; or

1 cup oatmeal and berries

lunch

1 cup soup; or

1 cup mashed potatoes and veggies; or

1 big baked sweet potatoe with sugar free Syrup and light butter

dinner

1 can tuna with mayo and 1 cup broccoli; or

a handfull of tortilla chips and Beans and cheese; or

one Soup (the whole thing even though it says 2.5 servings per can

I really eat differently than you - at my surgeon's request. I had two weeks on the liquid diet and really felt that I was suffering the last few days. But now I am able to have fat free yogurt and cottage cheese, low fat cheese, chicken and fish. I eat 6 small meals a day - about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours totalling 60 grams of protien and no more than 1000 calories a day. I have to say that I am satisfied and feeling good.

Hello

everyone will be a little different... but i have had 5 fills now... up to 8 cc in a 10 cc band... and i went crazy today and ate 5 pieces of pizza for lunch... no trouble at all. I am not very happy with myself or the band... but somehow i have still managed to loose 41 lbs... so it has to be doing something.

I appreciate your reply but don't beat yourself up over a few pieces of pizza. Not every day will be our best days! We are all learning and doing the best that we can.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
