new band and port pain

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am new to this forum and I just got my band 2 1/2 weeks ago. Everything went great except I have had a lot of pain in my port area. It feels like it is burning with pinching and pulling. I am comfortable when I am lying down but walking and turning or bending can be excruciating. If I put pressure on it it's better but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I went for my post op appt. last week and then went in again 2 days ago to see about it but the surgeon felt around, said my port was perfectly in place and that this was normal, some people just have more pain than others. I just want to know anyone else who might have experienced this and can tell me it will go away in time! Thanks, I'm glad to be a part of this group!

I too had the same feelings, I was in so much pain I was hitting the narcotics I was sent home with...Good news though, I am 4 weeks out today and the pain is all but gone!!! Try to sleep with a small pillow around your tummy and on a side that isnt sore. Sounds like you may be doing too much??? too Early?? Relax, take some time to heal. GOOd luck

Try using elastic cami's or shaping tank tops ( available in lingerie sections of dept stores) for support. Two months after surgery I still wear them because at times I feel my port tug when I make sudden moves or twists.

They really helped me especially after surgery. I felt it gave proper support and pressure for my port incision without being too tight. ( I bought the barely there brand). And they make you look thinner.

Thanks so much for your responses. It just helps to know someone else has experienced this and it does get better! I did get a couple of "under-garments" from Spanx an it helps tremendously just to keep everything from moving around. Thanks again and good luck to everyone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
