Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I'm a few dyas post op, the first couple of days where really not fun but doing OK now, just really hungry. I can start full liquids tomorrow. I have a few questions to you guys, anyone a coffee drinker? How long until you had a good cup? I weened myself off of sweetening my coffee now I like to just drink it with milk or ff cream. what do you guys think?

Also to you golfers, how long until you got back on the course?

i wouldn't expect to be able to play golf for a few weeks post op. the incisions are still pretty tender for a while. especially the port site. my port site hurts like hell if i move a certain way or bend a certain way. i've been told this is normal and could last past a month post op. maybe you can play golf but i doubt it. i'm not a golf player. i tried bowling and it didn't work out too well. i bowl twice a week and i've had to be off for two weeks now b/c of surgery. it wasn't b/c the ball weighed too much either. it was the way my body is bending and moving.

I love my large cup of coffee in the mornings, but I'm trying to ween myself off and switch to herbal teas. I'm making the decision for health reasons. Actually I believe green tea is also great for weight loss. I hope to take up golf again in the spring.

I Think I would die if I couldn't have several cups of strong(Starbucks french roast) black coffee a day. No sugar, no cream, just black!

I don't think coffee is an issue; it's the caffiene in it that the doctors are not fond of. Can be dehydrating. Don't sweat your coffee but GOLF? This quick after surgery?? Call your doctor NOW and be sure it's OK to do so. You don't want to pop the sutures or cause yourself other expensive difficulties for a game or two of golf! I was told not to lift anything heavy, they did not even consider I'd be twisting and turning playing golf! Be careful, call the doc and be sure your fine to do so. You have come so far you don't want to mess it up now! Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
