Thanks Marie & Cindy & Cindy & everyone else. Well I definitely want to hurl because I found out today that it wasn't a slip but that the band was not placed around my stomach, it was incorrectly placed around the fat tissue outside the stomach. :tt1: No wonder I had no restriction. I'm still in shock and totally devastated. I have agreed to have it redone at the end of the week but I'm in two minds as to what to do after speaking to some family members tonight. It's a hard decision to make.

Holy Crap!!! Your surgeon didn't get the band around your STOMACH???? That's amazing. So, I assume he would be doing the revision for FREE?

While you are the one who has to decide whether to reband or not, I am curious why you wouldn't do it. I bet you would have great success, now that you have had all the practice in the bandster way of eating. Plus, you would have to have surgery anyway to get the previous band removed, so it's not like you would be avoiding surgery by chosing nnot to reband....

My two cents are to not give up. The band works - your problems with it have not been your fault or the fault of your band. Who knows, you could end up like Cindy or Txarcher - and smoke through 100 pounds 6 months after rebanding (of course, I will hate you for leaving me in the dust.....).

Cheer up girl, whatever you decide will be okay.

Thanks Foofy. I know you're right but it's a lot to take in. They will do it at no cost to me and they will replace it with a totally new band. I guess it's more a matter of negligence and I'm worried about what could happen when I go under again. It was hard enough the first time.

PS: I only have about 50-60 lbs to go and yes I could just slide past you in this race... better start looking over your shoulder!! :tt1:)

I expect you are worried. I remember how scared I was before getting my band. On the plus side, I expect your surgeon is going to be sooooper careful this time around and treat you like a princess. Everyone involved in the surgery will be double checking everything to make sure it is right.

You've got to have surgery anyway, right? I think everything will be fine. I am looking forward to being pissed off at you already. ;o)

At least you've made me smile Foofy. That's what my sister and another bandster said, so I hope you're all correct. I have the surgery booked for this Thursday so it's likely to go ahead. I will keep you posted.

Oh my gosh, Sades! I have never heard of that happening before!! Foofy is right. You will have to have surgery anyway to remove the old band so you might as well get a new one while the doc is in there. You will do amazing afterwards as you lost some weight already with no restriction. However if you lose 100 lbs, you will disappear! How in the world did your doctor make such a mistake? Did he give you an excuse?

What day is your surgery? Please jump on here when you get home and let us know how you did. Sending you positive energy and best wishes from across the ocean. As my wonderful, optimistic dad used to say "This too shall pass". :tt1:

Hey Cindy, it's 2am here and I'm still awake. My dr admitted that they made a mistake. He didn't really make excuses but he did explain how it happened. I was in shock while I sat there listening to him. He said he would do it again asap so I agreed to this Thursday. I'm so anxious right now that I'm not really thinking straight. I will have another look at it in the morning.

That is crazy about your band. I am sorry that you are going through this, but I agree that you should stay on course. 50-60 is hard for those of us who resorted to the band to begin with! Your success will make all of this worth it!

Thanks for your support Shelley. I guess my confidence has gone down the gurgler which is why I'm so worried. Also having to start all over again is stressing me as well. We all know how hard it is in those first 4-6 weeks.

OH NO! Sades, I am so so sorry. That is horrible but I know everything will be great. You did so well without a band just imagine how much better it will be with a band. When you said you had no restriction you really meant no restriction. That is just wild. Just think of it as a 2nd start.

We are all here for you! You are really going to kick some serious ass with the new band.

Thanks Jill ! I feel honoured to be surrounded by such a positive and supportive bunch of people... it is really helping me see this in a slightly better light. It's still scarey but I know I need to do it again and just get on with it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
