I am nervous and excited all at once! I have to do 7 days of liquids prior for the liver issues. Going through my local True Results office in Phoenix.

I too went on a cruise before my banding to the Bahamas on Carnival. My last big hurrah of food in excess. I have also been cooking lavish meals for myself leading up to the surgery.

I went through BC/BS of AZ and it was very painless for me. TR took care of everything. They gave me a checklist of what BCBS needed for approval, most of which was done in their offices, but they gave me referrals for the x-rays and blood work, they collected all the test results, they contacted my PCP to get all my background health records, and then they submitted it to BC/BS for me. The monday before my cruise they sent off my request and by the time I got back home I had my approval letter in my mailbox!

My Surgery date is Aug. 6th, I'll be getting back from vaction 4 days before my surgery. My doctor wants me to lose 10 lbs before surgery and he sugguested I do the slim fast diet....I'm having such a hard time (truth be told that I haven't been able to do for even one day), is any one else having issue's?

I have 4 lbs to lose before my August 7th surgery. They explained about the liver during a pre-op visit to the hospital yesterday. The liver gains weight first when you overeat. And when you lose it it loses first. They prefer a liver that is not too big, they have to inflate your stomach cavity with gas to move the organs around to reach the stomach without harming it or other organs. It sits right in front of the stomach.

So I myself am doing the liquid diet for 7 days before surgery to get used to it..and to shrink that liver and lose the 4 lbs. and maybe a few more before the surgery to make it safer.

More pre-admissions stuff tomorrow morning.

Good luck everyone.

Lahey has a wonderful program.

I'm being banded August 7th! Exactly a week before my birthday! Talk about a good present.

Starting July 24th I have to go on a low carb diet. I think that will be the hardest for me. I'm totally a bread and potatoes kinda gal!

I am struggling with the Slimfast myself!! It stinks and it is so thick it just makes me want to gag!!

My surgery is the same date! I will be leaving Key West on Sun, Aug. 3 to take my daughter to GA (she is staying w/ my parents) and then driving back to Central FL to fly to San Diego on Aug. 5. I am a little worried about the weight loss between now and then.

Good luck!

Anna

BTW - My dh got his band last Sept. and he is doing great!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
