Donna.. the only thing I have heard is that if you have the acid and vomit coming up in the night that it is because you are too tight.. sometimes even if you are too tight your little pouch gets used to accomodating what you put in it but then has a hard time getting what you eat through the band so at night its still sitting there even though you havent eaten in hours because its not going through at a good enough rate. you are definately right to go to the docs.. I have met a lot of people with stretched pouches.. that were too tight.. able to eat with no probs during the day.. and then the back up at night..

does your doc use flouroscopy? you may want to request it if he doesnt just so he can see whats really going on.

I will pray for the best for you.. please keep us posted.

its by Good Earth and its the sweet and spicy herbal tea...

here is a link if you want to get an idea of what it looks like.. I know the package has changed several times.. but it gives you an idea

I've been drinking this tea for years. It's so good. I do it as iced tea because I'm not into hot beverages.

I'm certainly not losing fast, but what leaves doesn't come rushing back the first time I go astray. That is a big deal. Before the band, I could and did regain weight at an astonishing speed.

So I will just keep chipping away at it. The virus has left me marginally tighter, which I needed.

Hope everything goes okay with your appointment. There are a million benign but annoying things that could be causing your problems. I've had cysts many times and I have prolific endometriosis so I know how your feeling. Definetely good to get it checked out.

How did you come to your goal weight? Initially I took my height and found out what weight I'd have to be to have a BMI of ~24. Recently a girl around my age came in to have a panniculectomy as she had a RNY and had lost 170lbs. Like me she was 5'10" and she currently weighed 180. She looked downright skinny! She ended up having over 10lbs of skin and fat removed so the surgery brought her down below 170. This made me really think that I should change my goal from 160 to 180.

lovegrapes - I came up with my goal weight based on the BMI chart as well. As a generic starting point, it makes sense but as we get closer to goal, I think we all need to reassess what that goal weight should be. For some it will be less and for some it will be more.

yes the goal weight has to be what you feel comfortable with.. that BMI chart although helpful is generic.. so you have to taylor it to you.. when you get to the right weight for you you will know. I have sister in laws who are all at the correct weight for their height and they all feel too skinny.. so it depends on you.. I have talked to several people who had the band.. where approaching the bmi goal weight and decided to stop.. so I guess its up to you.. I just put the BMI chart weight on my goal and then I will reexamine it later :bananalama:

There are so many aspects to consider. Your bone structure, how much you exercise and build up your muscle mass. How you look and feel. And there is your lowest attainable weight versus your lowest maintainable weight. Lots to consider.

Isn't it nice that we are even in a position to be thinking about this! :-D

I agree Orea.. nice to even consider it!! I however keep looking at peoples before and after pics to keep myself encouraged.. it still seems so impossible that I could be perhaps a size 10 or smaller!! so then I see people pics and think.. well there they are.. and they lost it all..

Donna how are you feeling?? any better?? docs today still??

Just heading out to the doctor's office now. I've been sleeping propped up with pillows the past couple of nights so I haven't had a repeat of the throwing up bile but I've got one bad crick in my neck! I'll post as soon I'm back to let you all know what the doc says/does.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
