Ok, I've registered for my 5k run. I decided to enter the run on Sept 28th. It is in support of "Community Living London", which provides living support for people with intellectual disabilities. They offer housing, care giver support, respite care and just ongoing support for the families. This is near and dear to me, as my son will require their services when he is an adult. So I've decided to try to fund raise for the cause! I have to raise at least $80 to get the T-shirt... and I definately want the T-shirt from my first run! LOL. Wish me luck!

The other run I was considering is for breast cancer... which is also very important. However, this one gets over 3000 people enterring it each year and that is so many people for my first official run. So I have less than 2 weeks to get prepared for this run... but I know I can do it!

I'm a little achy this morning from my run... but not too bad. I'm going to run the 5k again tomorrow and then on the weekend I plan to do a shorter run, but increase the speed???

do you have a link to make a donation? i think it's great what your doing!!!

i have a dietary update of sorts,

i haven't lost a POUND in a long time, in fact i have been hovering around 127 for 3wks & had a LONG chat saturday w/my trainer. i have played around w/my food for SO long and i really haven't a clue how or what to do to break a plateau and really hadn't had one since being banded - i just thought this would just be where i ended up.

he told me the days we work out, weight train to eat whole grains at every meal. toast / brown rice / oatmeal / etc. & add 4oz of orange juice, apparently OJ breaks down fat???? who knows, but i tried it & this am i saw 124.3 on the scale.

was he right?? who knows - maybe i had held out long enough to drop some weight and today was the day - or like he's been saying all along; i'm not eating enough to lose, my body is holding on to what it has because on avg "we're" burning over 500 cal (even more) on run days etc.

ok - my morning rant..., have downtime this AM & too much coffee has made me chatty.>>>!!:)

Mamato~ You can do this!! Start slow and build back up. We will be looking for your posts daily. Glad to hear from you. How is your hubby doing? Better, I hope. Take care and keep in touch.

Kathy~ Congrats on entering the 5K! It will be here before you know it!

Tootie~ You are doing great! Keep up the wonderful work!!

Renewed~ Good for you! If I had known you wanted a jogging stroller, I could have gotten you one for $20. My SIL asked us to sell it for her at our yard sale the other week. It was nice too, like a $200 stroller, I think. I'm actually kicking myself for not buying it from her, lol. Anyway, that's wonderful that your hubby is running with you. I've been trying to get mine to run and he's just not into it.

Lyn~ You are right, it is mental. You can do a 5k! The way you have progressed is simply amazing. Can't wait until we all have ran a 5k!

Luluc... here's a link to the donation page:

As for your weight loss! Congrats! Who knows if it works, but I think I'll try it. Is it 4oz of OJ per day or per whole grain meal?

Whosya... so I am slower than most celebrities... of course! LOL.

Mamato-YOU CAN DO THIS!!! So glad you are back! Can't wait to hear how things are going each day!!

Kathy-Way to go signing up for that 5K. You will do great!!

Luluc-Thanks for the diet advice. I have played with the same 4 pounds for a couple of months and am so ready to really lose some more weight. I will definately increase my whole grains on workout days.

Thanks for the info whosya. How are you these days???

Georgia, DH isn't running with me DS is... Although, last night when DH got home from work I told him that DS is really wanting to run the 5K on Saturday, but I don't want him to run alone, so....DH is going to run it with him!!!! The 3 of us will all be running on saturday. I am so pumped. If I hadn't chosen a more healthy lifestyle then none of us would be running. Isn't that what it is all about!! BTW, I notice your ticker is moving!! Congrats!!

On a totally unrelated note.....I am a huge Dallas cowboys fan. For mine, DH and DS's birthdays we are going to try to get tickets to the last Cowboys game at Texas Stadium. It just happens to be on my son's birthday. He has been begging to go to a Cowboys game and Hooter's (he's only 9) for his birthday. DH thinks we should take him to Hooter's too, but I have not agreed to that as of yet!! LOL

Thanks girl! I'm so glad to be losing again. It's been a long time coming. That's wonderful that all 3 of you are running!

I will be running again today and I am anxious to see how long I can run today. I hope to run longer than 12 minutes.

Renewed... you're making this a family affair! That's so great! My DH wanted to run with me, but I asked him not to. He's much faster than me, and I know I can't run that fast yet and it would make me nervous having him run with me... pushing me when I'm not ready for that. So for my first event, I want to do it myself and have him and the kids at the finish line.

Georgia... you can do it... you're doing great! Congrats again on the moving ticker "runner"!

Kathy, my first 5K I did by myself. They were waiting for me at the finish line. This time we are not planning to stay together. I plan to run the whole thing and Tony is going to stay with Dalton. He will not be able to run it all, so no pressure for me!!

Renewed... you must be so proud of your son for wanting to do this and for Tony in helping him achieve it! I'm so proud for you for the changes you've helped to effect in your family!

Georgia... 2 lbs to go for the major milestone! I have the confetti, bells and whistles ready!

4oz a day - w/breakfast is when i have it ... i gave up all juices because of the calories..., nice to have some OJ again

I am sooo jealous!!We love the Cowboys. We watched the game. I can't imagine being there. It was definately a crazy game. Dec 20th is DS birthday. That is the day we are planning. It is the last home game at Texas Stadium. Where are yalls seats. We will probably be in the nosebleed section, but just being able to take him will be awesome!!

It is a Saturday night game, 7:15.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
