I am getting ready to go to bed and I did not run again tonight. I am so proud of myself. How crazy does that sound. I will probably run tommorow, but I might even wait and repeat on Sunday. Goodnight all.

I just finished week one! Whew...Couldn't have done it without the inspiration of this group. Congrats Renewed and Bonnie on reaching 20 min. Way to go. I can't wait till I get there. Wow Whosya, 180 in 12 months. Happy Bandiversary. I can't wait to start week 2. I almost want to try to run every day so that I can keep the pace but I know myself way too well to know that I will get burned out and stop. I'm going to try to follow the program for this and see where it takes me.

tootie - Great job finishing week 1. I know that you are proud of yourself. I am each time I finish a run successfully. Stick to the plan, you will be less likely to get injured or burned out.

Renewed - Good job, just going to bed and not running again. Your body is working overtime, take a rest.

I will wait to run until tomorrow night. I don't typically do well if I run in the evenings, but I have to pick up my DS at camp in the morning and take him to the "Lilly Family Reunion" (The largest family reunion in the United States - 10,000 people - 3 day event) He plays mandolin in a bluegrass band and they preform there tomorrow afternoon.

I'm actually up at 11:30? What's wrong with me? LOL

Sugarbean - Have fun tomorrow! Three days of family? I think I'd die...don't get me wrong, I love family but can only take them a bit at a time.

Renewed - Diddo to everyone else - get some rest so you'll be ready for tomorrow

Tootie - congratulations on week 1! I have one more day of week 2. I hope I'm ready for week 3...whew!

Night all! I'm going to run tomorrow. Trying asphault - around the neighborhood. My first outdoor run. Wish me luck! :-)

This is not my family reunion, my son is just performing there. I probably will not know a soul.

Oh - that's so much better! I can deal with strangers better than my family (my dad's family)! Most of them anyway...lets just say I wouldn't like to run into my dad's family in a dark alley.

My mom's side is fine...mostly (her moms). LONG family history, quite a few murders and murderers. Thank goodness I didn't inherit their blood - lol (just joking). I asked my grandfather once about his wifes family (curious), he said they were all crazy as hell. At 16 I didn't know how to take that. Now knowing the history - yep, makes sense.

But it is fun to get them together. Ever see dogs fight over a bone? I could be a very rich woman if I wrote a book about them. Talking about drama! That's my family reunions...I say that with love. I love all of them. I'd rather have them on my side than against me.

Your family sounds like a soap oprea.

My Mom's family is okay for the day. She is one of nine kids - I have 24 cousins on her side.

However, my Dad's family is much better. He is one of six kids - I have 16 cousins on his side. We used to spend the week together every summer at my uncle's house until he moved. He has 5 daughters - they just bought me a Creative Memories scrapbook for my "Weight Loss Journey" they all live in Pennsylvania. I grew up around the corner from them. I miss them alot.

Wow - big family! Sounds like ya'll are close.

I miss my mom's family. Both my grandparents have passed. They were a hoot! My grandmother's family (the ones with a dark past) are a riot. I would love to sit and be a fly on the wall. So many secrets. We've discovered a lot of them (mom and I). My grandmother was a twin and her twin is still living. The eldest sister is now 98. My grandmother's twin owns an antique shop in Alabama. It's in the same house she was born and raised in (as well as the other 8 kids). I love going there. I've always loved history and I love a mystery even more.

Good morning! Wow this thread was super busy yesterday while I was working. I'm not even going to attempt to try to do individual responses. Everyone is doing so great and you all continue to be such motivators! I am so thankful for the positive vibes I receive from each of you.

I finished week 6 day 1 yesterday. I am actually starting to feel like I could actually finish this thing! I never thought I would get through the 20 minute run, but I did! Now I am looking forward to upping it. I am not going to do my next run until Monday. My hip has been sore since Wednesday. I pushed through my run yesterday even though it was hurting. Probably not smart. So, I am going to give it a break until Monday.

Mamato3~ You are doing such a great job! Hope your hips feels better soon.

I really missed my run yesterday. I did get some cardio in though. DH, DS, and I went to the YMCA pool yesterday evening and I got some laps in. I forgot swimming was such good cardio! It seemed to tire me out more than running. I guess because I'm using different muscles. Anywho, great workout and it didn't bother my knee or leg at all! It bothered my ankle a little, which is weird because it has felt fine. Nothing bad though. I enjoyed it and hopefully burned a lot of calories.

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

First of all ...Great job mamato3! You are doing fantastic. I am so inspired by you 20 minute runners.. I want to be there so bad.

Today is our (DH and me) last day of vacation in Florida; I am so sad .. I don't want to leave. It is raining too today, which is a reflection of my mood. I have had two weeks of "escape" from my regular life. Don't get me wrong; I am so Blessed in my life. maybe it is my "midlife crisis" I turned 50 in June, but honestly; I could just stay here and start a new phase of my life.

As you know I have only be banded 3 weeks. Did any of you expereience strange mood swings or emotional changes? The exercise helps me have a "positive" change. I think it is about control and MAKING changes.

I really feel like a spoiled brat ... I don't want to go home and somehow it is my DH fault! (Projecting blame; I guess)

Well, I am going to pull myself together, when it stops raining; I will go for a long agressive walk/run!!!!

PS. Do you think it could be that for the past 2 weeks all I have had to do is concentrate on myself; diet, exercise, scales, look good - feel better, lay in the sun, swim in the pool, sleep until I wake up, go to bed when I am tire - no clocks, no employees bitching, no family issues, no work deadlines, nothing is expected of me, no one is counting on me?

I know this thread is about excerise, but you are my daily support group - Sorry to get heavy and vent.

I am really not a psycho; it just seems that way today!

Packing my tears and heading for Ohio,

Lynn

PSS I didn't weigh myself again day - it's killin' me!

Georgia - I'm glad you enjoyed your swim. You really do use your muscles differently (and different muscles) in swimming. It takes your whole body. I'm sure you burned a TON of calories - according to dailyplate it burns 880 calories an hour.

Lynn - I hope you enjoy your last day of vacation. Ya'll have a safe trip back to Ohio!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
