wow tonites run was just the way i like it! it was about 65-70F. perfect here sunny but breezy. i did ok with week 4 again. since i didnt do a full run of any sort last time i feel like i need to do it a few more times. i MIGHT run again tomorrow if the weather is as nice as today. next week will be a bit more complicated since its week 5 and the program varies. not sure if i'll do each variation a few times or if i'll just do it in sequence and repeat it till it feels ok.

any suggestions for week 5 when im ready to move on since i am being methodical in adding extra days for each week?

one extra question: how do the more experienced of u banded runners feel about extra Protein after exercise? Ive been adding Protein Shots (bullets?) to boost the protein in general every few days, but ive heard its supposed to be helpful for muscle recovery. any thoughts??? anxious to hear from u on this...

TC,

Carol

I ran 4.5 miles today! Without stopping.

Our track workout had us changing our pace but not doing rest intervals so it was perfect for me.

I started this about a little over a month ago but then decided to hold off. I walk 2 miles each day and next week I will be starting this again. My goal is to run in a 5K this coming fall.

Mac~ WTG! That is amazing! I have not made my 4 miles without a short walk in the middle. Once I get to run again, I will be back at it - you inspire me!

MacMadam... WTG! 4.5m is excellent!

Whosya... I'm posting the results below!

Auggies... welcome and good luck!

Carol... On week 5, I would just power through the first 2 runs and then focus on the 3rd one. That's one of the hardest overall, as its the biggest step so far. It took me about 4 weeks to accomplish it, but I had no problems with the first 2 runs. Take it at whatever pace you're comfortable with, and keep at it. You'll do great!

Ok, now I feel very motivated  I would love to be able to put some numbers up! I have to walk until Sunday, well, I am a cheater, I did try running the other day and it wasn't too bad, it was a flat level surface and I took it super slow!

It is amazing how addicting exercise can be! One of those things I thought I would never say!

TC,

Protiens shots and all those super expensive drinks are fine. But let me tell you. Two Glasses of skim milk are just as good!!!

Alot of experiance runners say a glass of choclatte milk afer a run is perfect for protein. But i dont want the sugar or cals.

Look for frigo light string cheese too. 60 cals tons of protein. CHEAP.

Dont be fooled by expensive Protein Drinks and bars.

Real nautral Protein is the best. chicken, fish, milk. I only use supplements if there is no other choice.

I just came in from a 2.5hour run which i can handle pretty well now. I wanted to go 3hrs but i had to go for a buisness dinner.< /p>

Tips: took my credit card and stopped at gas station for Water and a little gatorade.

Whosya - you're amazing. I can't imagine!

Mac - 4.5 miles, congrats!

Carol - Good job getting to week 5, completing day 3 is amazing. Good luck to you.

Krtork - I want to be additcted too. I enjoy running, but I can't say I'm addicted just yet.

auggies - Welcome and good luck on the C25K!

I ran 33 mins last night. I'm trying to get up to 40-45 mins before my 5K on May 9. I'm still sooo slow. I keep picturing mom's with baby strollers passing me by. LOL

Mac, I'm taking your advice and trying the interval training once a week.

Thanks for all the support!

thanks for the suggestions whosya, glad to see u still posting here. if i dont see ya online b4 your 1/2 mary next weekend - best of luck to you. i think you'll definitely be able to hear me cheering for u from all the way down here.

i'll take your suggestions and "run with them." LOL i crack myself up sometimes. anyway, i have some of the Protein Shots, and its a quick way for me to get the grams in a short time, but i'll use these up and stick to real food after that.

addicted? me, nah... i can quit anytime. i really miss the days i dont run, maybe im on my way to being addicted. besides it feels awesome to call myself a runner even if im a novice. i still get looks of "really? u run-run? and i just sit back and let the coolness of that sink in. ive actually had a couple really neat conversations with ppl who run and i can talk to them on a different level.

tc all,

Carol

Hello my C25K buddies! I've been MIA for a while now. I won't go into too much detail...I've just been having a rough time. I've fallen back into some old habits of snacking all day and I quit exercising too....until today. I got up this morning and hit the gym! I feel sooo much better!

I've decided not to just concentrate on running alone since I tend to get burned out easily. I did run today and it went better than I thought. It's been about a month since I last ran and fully expected to last no longer than a few minutes. I did run 1.5 miles straight in about 19 minutes...so not as bad as I thought. I also did 5 minutes on the stairmaster and 12 minutes on the bike. On a funny note, I forgot to stop my nike+ workout and it kept going through my bike ride and stairmaster...

I haven't caught up on all the posts yet but I did see where Kathy ran another 5K....Congrats and good for you! I had planned on running one next month, but I don't know if I'll be ready.

If I don't post regularly, ya'll have my permission to hunt me down and kick my booty...

It's time to take up triathlon!! :)

Seriously, it was trying to find alternate exercises so I wouldn't get bored that got me into it.

I drink a Protein Shake every morning and one every night. It works for me.

Thanks for the tip. I've actually thought about taking up biking, but I'm not sure about the swimming, lol. My bat wings would weigh me down, lol. So maybe a bi...

Duathlons are biking and running.

I love to swim though and only put up with running. So running twice in one event?? Not for me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
