Gosh i had this HUGE awnser all typed out and my connection went down and i lost it. Ahhhhhh.

So are you just going to leave me hanging???

I did manage a 5.5 mile power walk yesterday. I am just really burned out. I know I need to keep pushing, and I know I will. I am just struggling. I am hoping once we get moved I will be able to settle back into a good routine.

I am having my Tummy Tuck revision today at 3. I don't think she will place much restriction on my activity, but we'll see.

Hey everyone! Renewed wanted me to let ya'll know that she is home and the procedure went well. They decided to do it at the hospital and it was a little more involved than they thought it would be. They did some revision on both sides in the front. She was starting to hurt so she is resting now.

Hope you heal soon Renewed!!

Well, I went to the gym tonight and ran. I only did 3.1 miles but I decided to do things a little different to try to improve my speed. I ran the first mile at 4.7 (I usually run at 4.4). Then I did high speed intervals (high speed for me anyway, lol) for the rest of the time, walking at 3.6 and running at 5.5 (walk 0.3 miles and ran 0.2 miles in intervals). I was surprised at how much increasing the speed effected me. It was A LOT harder!

I'm letting Renewed down in the team challenge. I didn't run today. But I'm going tomorrow even though I normally don't run on Tues.

Actually after this week, my schedule is going to be all messed up so hopefully it doesn't matter.

After I finished the C25K program, I really started to work on my speed and it kicked my butt in the beginning. I am FINALLY up to 5mph for 40 minutes straight but never thought I would get there.

I plan to run today, but we shall see. I haven't been running much lately because my nutrition (and in turn my energy) has been bad. I got tight when my cycle came last week and have been on practically liquids since then...the tightness hasn't let up, even though the cycle left, so I will be getting an unfill tomorrow. Thank goodness!

Interval training is awesome for building up speed. Sometime on some of my longer runs it helps time go by quickly too.

Fartleks? are great too if your outside. All this is is picking a spot, could be the next lampost or the next block to pick you speed up untill you get there..then slow down again.

It helps you run fast but be able to go back to a mangeable run pace when you cant go no more.

Also great if your ever racing and want to overtake someone.

hey whosya,

who'da thunk i was doing some fancy training technique all along. Hmmmm. Well thats what i do with my sprints! Those "fartklets" are what i have been doing since i started sprinting. if i look at the space between 2 points, and run it, it feels do-able and not overwhelming for me. When i did my great proactice runs, i did more than my usual points, increasing distance more than speed, but thats what gave me the confidence to keep going. i found for me that the short distances are much less daunting than trying to do a long run at this point. for the running part, my goal for now is to make it halfway around my lake without stopping to walk. (thats about .4 mi. as soon as this infection (which has settled mainly in my chest now) is over and i get decent lung capacity again, that will be what i do.

any advice from y'all, will be appreciated to 1, get rid of this lung crap other than the hot tea and meds like mucinex dm, and 2, increase the distance/endurance in my runs.

Thanks,

Carol

I learned the hard way, yesterday, to GRADUALLY increase in speed, lol. I thought I was going to die, lol. Today I bumped my long run (2.6 miles) up only one notch, to 4.5. Then did intervals at 4.7/3.7. I managed much better tonight.

Renewed....I hope you are doing okay!!!

Okay....I went to the doctor today for a fill and I'm a little concerned. Each time I go, I lose Fluid. Today, she measured and I lost 1.5cc since Thanksgiving!! We are not sure if there is a slow leak or what's going on. She said the fluid could be evaporating because of my workouts. She said the more your body heats up, the more likely some fluid can evaporate.

Sooo....Whosya, Renewed and all you others who do excessive workouts.....have you had this problem? Do you lose fluid due to working out?

I've never gotten to my "sweet spot" and I've been banded for almost 1.5 years. It's soooo frustrating! She did put some more fluid in and right now I feel some restriction, but who knows if I'll have it in a week or two....

MacMadame, You are not letting me down AT ALL!! I have felt as though I am letting you down since I have gone into my nothing mode. Keep it up! You are doing great!!

Georgia, I have never lost any Fluid that I know of.

I am doing good today. I am a little sore. After this "minor" revision I have 33 staples. My doctor actually did revision on 2 areas instead of one. I am very pleased.

I have done very well with my eating today and actually feel a little more focused. I am going to take the rest of the week to recover from my procedure and then I will start my new routine on Monday. My goal will be consistancy. I am actually looking forward to getting going!

Renewed~Glad to hear that you are feeling well! 33 staples, wow!

Georgia~Did the dr have any other explanations or some way to find out why you would be losing Fluid? That is a bit bothersome. Hope you get some restriction!

I had a bad run on Monday, lifted today, hoping my run is better tomorrow. The weather was definitely a lot warmer than it has been, wondering if that could have something to do with it. We have had unseasonably warm weather this week - it was 62 today, we usually never go above 40 this time of year!

Well, my fill nurse said she was going to call the surgeon and see what needs to be done. I think we will eventually end up having to do x-rays to check for a leak. Seems like no one else loses fluid because of workouts....

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
