i was told by my doctor to wait 6 months but most people only wait 2 months. there is a lot of sugar in mixed drinks and wine but i'm sure 1 glass a week wouldn't hurt.

By the way...not to point out the obvious, but Elizabeth your only 19...how much could you be drinking anyway? Not that we all haven't had a drink prior to 21, but just be mindful of what you are putting in your mouth, you may also discover that since you are eating less, much less, that the tolerance you had is now gone. 1 drink may be enough to get you drunk. So be careful

ok so just to let everyone know i dont drink very much at all. Occasional parties. And i hardly ever get drunk and i know my limits, i have already planned on waiting a while before i even think about drinking again, but me and about 15 of my friends are going to this huge concert July 29th and i had already planned on being the DD but i was just wondering if i would be even able to drank by then. And i really dont like my doctor so i didnt want to ask him because i am underage and he would think im some kind of alcoholic so i thought i would get some oppioions on here!! Thanks everyone!!

Also, I'm pretty sure most wine coolers are carbonated, which means they're just as much of a nono as beer.

Alcohol has a high number of calories and it breaks down Vitamins in your system. An occasional glass of wine or other non-carbonated alcoholic beverage though is not considered harmful to weight loss but drinking more regularly will sabotage your weight loss and could deplete the nutrients in your body. You should be careful when you drink too because now that you have the lap band the alcohol could affect you differently than before. But dispite all of this you really should check with your doctor on how soon you can start drinking.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
